Job Description

Help solve the power system challenges shaping Australia's energy future.

Australia's energy transition is creating increasingly complex challenges across generation, transmission and distribution networks. The rapid integration of renewable generation, battery energy storage, inverter-based resources, emerging technologies and major new loads is changing how power systems are planned, modelled, connected and operated.

At PSC, we do more than respond to these challenges. We help clients understand them, manage risk and develop practical solutions.

As a Consultant – Power System Studies, you will contribute to a diverse portfolio of technically challenging projects across power generation, transmission planning, network development and grid connections. You will apply your power systems expertise to deliver high-quality studies, develop network models, interpret complex results and provide clear technical advice to clients.

This is an opportunity to take greater ownership of project delivery, deepen your technical capability and build your consulting experience while working alongside PSC specialists across Australia and our global business.

How You'll Make an Impact

You will undertake complex power system studies that support critical investment, planning, connection and operational decisions across the energy sector.

Your work may include load flow, short circuit, transient stability, voltage stability, small signal, generator and load connection, arc-flash, insulation coordination, feasibility and network planning studies. You will develop and validate network models using industry-standard simulation tools, analyse study outcomes and prepare clear, accurate technical reports.

Working with project leaders, clients and PSC's global specialists, you will help coordinate technical activities, manage your work against project scope, schedule and budget, and contribute to the successful delivery of projects. You will also have opportunities to support client relationships, contribute to proposals and case studies, share technical knowledge and guide less-experienced engineers.

What You'll Bring

A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, ideally with a specialisation in power systems, supported by five or more years of professional experience delivering power system studies outside an academic environment. You will have practical experience across generation, transmission, network planning or grid connection projects, along with advanced capability in simulation software such as PSS®E, PSCAD and/or DIgSILENT PowerFactory. Experience using multiple software packages will be highly regarded.

You’ll independently deliver technical workstreams, communicate outcomes clearly and collaborate effectively with clients and global teams. Progress towards professional engineering registration will be highly regarded.

Why PSC?

At PSC, you will work on varied and meaningful projects for developers, EPCs, energy and resources companies, networks, generators and system operators. Our specialists help clients solve complex power system challenges across renewable integration, grid connections, transmission planning, energy storage and emerging technologies.

We are a nimble global organisation where technical contribution is recognised, collaboration is encouraged and people are supported to grow. You will have the opportunity to broaden your project experience, strengthen your capability across multiple study types and software platforms, and develop towards senior technical, project or consulting leadership pathways.

We're looking for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, takes ownership of high-quality delivery and wants to continue developing within a supportive team of power system specialists.

If you're ready to apply your expertise to some of the most important challenges facing the energy industry, we'd love to hear from you.
