Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly qualified Consultant Pediatric Ophthalmologist to join our healthcare team in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive ophthalmic care to infants, children, and adolescents, with expertise in pediatric eye disorders, strabismus, and complex ophthalmic conditions.

The ideal candidate will be American Board Certified or hold an equivalent recognized specialist qualification, with strong clinical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive consultation, diagnosis, and management of pediatric ophthalmic conditions.
• Evaluate and manage strabismus, amblyopia, pediatric refractive errors, congenital eye disorders, and developmental visual abnormalities.
• Perform comprehensive pediatric eye examinations, including examinations of infants and young children.
• Diagnose and manage complex pediatric and adolescent ophthalmic conditions.
• Perform appropriate pediatric ophthalmic and strabismus surgical procedures where credentialed and privileged.
• Manage pre-operative and post-operative care of pediatric ophthalmic patients.
• Collaborate with pediatricians, neonatologists, neurologists, geneticists, and other specialists when required.
• Provide counseling and education to parents and caregivers regarding diagnosis, treatment options, prognosis, and follow-up.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical records in accordance with institutional and regulatory standards.
• Participate in multidisciplinary clinical meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and departmental activities.
• Contribute to clinical education, mentoring, and training of junior physicians and healthcare professionals.
• Maintain current knowledge of advances in pediatric ophthalmology, strabismus, and related surgical techniques.
• Comply with applicable Department of Health (DoH) Abu Dhabi regulations, clinical policies, and patient-safety standards.

Required Qualifications

• MD/DO or equivalent medical degree from an accredited institution.
• American Board Certification in Ophthalmology or an equivalent internationally recognized qualification.
• Fellowship or advanced subspecialty training in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus preferred/required as applicable to the role.
• Valid eligibility for DoH Abu Dhabi specialist/consultant licensure, subject to applicable requirements.
• Relevant post-board clinical experience in pediatric ophthalmology.
• Demonstrated experience managing pediatric ophthalmic and strabismus cases.
