
To provide specialized cardiac care for infants, children, and adolescents with congenital or acquired heart diseases. The Consultant Pediatric Cardiologist plays a key role in the diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of pediatric cardiac conditions using advanced diagnostic tools, non-invasive and invasive procedures, and multidisciplinary care models in accordance within the clinical standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Evaluate and manage a wide spectrum of pediatric cardiac conditions including congenital heart defects, arrhythmias, cardiomyopathies, and acquired heart diseases (e.g., Kawasaki disease, myocarditis).
Perform and interpret pediatric cardiac diagnostics such as echocardiography (transthoracic, transesophageal, fetal), ECG, Holter monitoring, and exercise stress testing.
Coordinate care and collaborate with pediatric cardiac surgeons, intensivists, neonatologists, and other specialists for surgical planning, preoperative and postoperative care.
Participate in cardiac catheterizations and interventional procedures if credentialed.
Provide expert consultation in pediatric intensive care, neonatal ICU, and emergency settings.
Counsel and support families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, prognosis, and follow-up care.
Document all assessments, procedures, and management plans in the electronic medical record system in accordance with hospital guidelines.
Engage in academic activities including teaching, training, and mentoring residents and junior staff.
Participate in clinical governance activities including morbidity and mortality reviews, case conferences, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
Ensure compliance with all the hospital and DOH standards for patient safety, clinical documentation, ethics, and infection control.
Minimum Qualifications:
Basic Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent) from an accredited medical institution.
Residency in Pediatrics followed by fellowship/subspecialty training in Pediatric Cardiology.
Board Certification in Pediatric Cardiology (e.g., American Board, Arab Board, CCT UK, MRCPCH with Pediatric Cardiology subspecialty, or equivalent).
Valid DOH Consultant License in Pediatric Cardiology or eligibility to obtain it.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of post-certification experience as a Consultant Pediatric Cardiologist.
Hands-on expertise in pediatric cardiac imaging, diagnostics, and outpatient/inpatient care.
