Consultant Obstetrician & Gynecologist (OB-GYN)

Location: Ogba, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Medical Director
Work Schedule: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM (One to Two Days Off Weekly)
Salary: ₦2,000,000 – ₦2,500,000 Monthly

We are seeking a highly experienced and compassionate Consultant Obstetrician & Gynecologist (OB-GYN) to join a reputable healthcare facility in Ogba, Lagos. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering comprehensive obstetric and gynecological care, ensuring excellent maternal and reproductive health outcomes.

This role involves providing high-quality clinical services, performing advanced surgical and diagnostic procedures, and contributing to continuous improvement in patient care and clinical standards. The successful candidate will also play a key role in mentoring junior medical staff and supporting the hospital's commitment to excellence.

Key Responsibilities

1. Obstetric & Gynecological Care


  • Provide comprehensive prenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care.

  • Manage labor and delivery, ensuring safe maternal and neonatal outcomes.

  • Conduct routine gynecological examinations and screenings (Pap smears, breast exams).

  • Diagnose and treat reproductive health conditions including infertility, fibroids, infections, and hormonal disorders.

  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients.

2. Surgical & Clinical Procedures


  • Perform obstetric and gynecological surgeries such as cesarean sections, hysterectomies, myomectomies, and laparoscopic procedures.

  • Conduct diagnostic procedures including ultrasounds, biopsies, and related investigations.

  • Prescribe and manage medications appropriately.

  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and patient records in line with regulatory standards.

  • Participate in emergency care, on-call rotations, and multidisciplinary case management.

3. Patient Education & Counseling


  • Provide education on reproductive health, contraception, and family planning.

  • Counsel patients on fertility options and preventive healthcare.

  • Offer emotional support to patients and families while maintaining confidentiality and empathy.

4. Collaboration & Leadership


  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to manage complex cases.

  • Mentor and supervise junior doctors, nurses, and clinical staff.

  • Participate in departmental meetings, clinical audits, and quality improvement initiatives.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical protocols and standards.

Qualifications & Requirements

Educational & Professional Qualifications


  • MBBS or equivalent from a recognized institution.

  • Fellowship qualification: FWACS or FMCOG in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

  • Valid practicing license with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN)

Experience


  • Minimum of 7 – 10 years post-fellowship clinical experience

  • Proven expertise in obstetric and gynecological care and surgery.

  • Prior experience in a reputable hospital setting (private sector preferred).
