Job Purpose:

As a contributor on the TruStage Enterprise UX team, this position is responsible for delivering user experiences that delight users, advance business goals, and increase tech wealth for applications, platforms, and digital sales/service channels. This position is able to work autonomously across a wide variety of insurance and financial services experiences that support our core B2B2C and D2C business models helping design leadership form new and innovative ways to deliver value to the enterprise. As a UX practitioner, this position is responsible for not only crafting state-of-the-art experiences, but measuring their effectiveness, and continuously optimizing them (leveraging research and analytics).

Job Responsibilities:

  • Delivers UX design enterprise-wide in arenas including application/software development, sales, and service.
  • Leads by example, applying a personal design practice that includes all aspects of UX/UI including IxD (Interaction Design), VD (Visual Design), and UX Research. Share experiences with junior designers to help them hone their personal practice.
  • Adheres to the latest accessibility standards as set forth by the Enterprise Accessibility Council. Advances our UX approach to accessibility through self-education and collaboration with design leadership and engineering.
  • Able to balance specialization with flexibility (business).
  • Specialization: able to learn the business acumen and domain expertise of a focus area with minimal guidance from the guidance of the Design Lead
  • Flexibility: Able to quickly ramp-up in new domains to deliver value centered on business outcomes
  • Able to understand business goals/requirements with the guidance of the Design Lead(s) and deliver design options that advance business strategies. Assists the Design Lead in writing and refining design stories through collaboration with cross-functional partners.
  • Able to work within technical constraints and considerations to promote tech wealth and reduce tech debt in our systems and platforms. Builds healthy relationships with technical partners to improve quality and speed of delivery of digital experiences.
  • Is an active user and change agent of the enterprise design systems Neo (white labeled SaaS) and Ascend (TruStage DS) to promote code reuse, rapid development, and accessibility.
  • Able to adhere to Design Ops (Design Operations) established by design leadership and takes an active role in retrospectives and continuous improvement.
  • Takes an active ownership and accountability in personal professional development and utilizes resources such as coaches, design leads, and management to align professional interests/growth areas to business outcomes.
  • Plays an active role in helping the Enterprise UX Design Team build a strong, diverse, brave culture by contributing (and being open to) unique experiences and perspectives.
  • Collaborates with fellow designers and cross-functional stakeholders/partners using active listening, objectives-based feedback, and positivity. Seeks to understand. Debates, then supports.
  • Passionately stays up to date on UX, tech, and business trends contributing thought-leadership to an ongoing dialogue within the team and enterprise.
  • Able to be effective in varied teams all on different points in their Agile practice journey/maturity.
  • Can lead and prescribe methods/process in a culture that values Design Thinking and other similar frameworks and philosophies (e.g., Human Centered Design, Lean Startup, etc.).

  • Tests designs with users using various qualitative UX research methods and platforms (e.g., Usertesting.com).
  • Works with Design Leads to understand how analytics and data can help inform and improve designs.

Job Requirements:

List of general education, background and experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities typically required to effectively perform the responsibilities of the job. Also include any required licenses and/or designations.

  • Bachelor’s degree in digital art, computer science, graphic design, human-computer interaction, UI design, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and/or related professional work experience.
  • Proven experience in a UI field and UI design skills with a strong portfolio.
  • 5+ years of experience in designing world class UI designs.
  • 3+ years of experience designing and launching Internet applications.
  • Knowledge of human factors and user interface (UI) concepts.
  • Successful track record in the implementation of UI models.
  • Knowledge of user interface design principles, best practices, and standards.
  • Must understand and be able to review usability test feedback.
  • Proficiency in Sketch, Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, OmniGraffle, or other visual design, wireframing and prototyping tools.
  • Excellent visual design skills with sensitivity to user-system interaction.
  • Up-to-date with the latest UI trends, techniques, and technologies.
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process.
  • Proven ability to make contributions in a collaborative, diverse, team-oriented environment including interpersonal and communications skills such as: listening, influencing, compromising, facilitating, and technical writing.
  • Ability to create navigation maps, wireframes, functional specifications, and design requirement documents.
  • Preferred:
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for rapid prototyping.

Compensation may vary based on the job level, your geographic work location, position incentive plan and exemption status.

Base Salary Range:

$102,400.00 - $153,600.00
