Job Title: Consultant General Surgery

SHORT DESCRIPTION

An excellent opportunity to join as a General Surgery Consultant at one of the most prestigious and leading hospitals in Dammam, Saudi Arabia

The Consultant General Surgery will be responsible for providing comprehensive, high-quality surgical care to patients across the full scope of General Surgery. The role involves the assessment, diagnosis, and management of a wide range of surgical conditions, performing operative and non-operative procedures, and ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and clinical care. The Consultant will also contribute to the supervision and education of junior medical staff and participate in departmental, administrative, and research activities.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provides high-quality surgical care to patients in accordance with established clinical standards and best practices.
• Conducts comprehensive surgical consultations, assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans for patients with a wide range of surgical conditions.
• Provides consultative services to other departments and specialties as requested.
• Evaluates patients requiring elective, emergency, and urgent surgical intervention.
• Performs general surgical procedures within the scope of clinical privileges and expertise.
• Provides appropriate pre-operative, operative, and post-operative management of surgical patients.
• Manages surgical emergencies and participates in on-call services as required.
• Supervises and supports fellows, residents, staff physicians, and other junior medical professionals.
• Actively participates in the training and teaching of residents, fellows, and other healthcare professionals in General Surgery.
• Participates in clinical research, quality improvement initiatives, and evidence-based surgical practice.
• Participates in departmental committees and other administrative functions as required.
• Maintains accurate and comprehensive medical records in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
• Follows all hospital-related policies, procedures, infection control measures, and patient safety standards.
• Collaborates effectively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care.
• Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• Graduate from a recognized and accredited medical school of good standing.
• Completion of the required surgical training in General Surgery
• Arab, Egyptian, Jordanian, Lebanese, or Saudi Board Certification in General Surgery, or an equivalent recognized qualification.
• Membership and/or Fellowship or an equivalent qualification, fulfilling the criteria required for a Consultant position.
• A professional qualification recognized by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) is required.
• Valid DataFlow verification is required.

Professional Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of post-Board/Fellowship experience in General Surgery
• Current or eligible registration with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS)
• Demonstrated experience in the diagnosis and surgical management of a broad range of general surgical conditions.
• Proven experience in performing a range of elective and emergency general surgical procedures.
• Proven ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Language

• Proficiency in English is required.
• Proficiency in Arabic is an advantage.
