What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll be joining CIBC’s Capital Markets Technology group within Credit Adjudication Technology team. As a Consultant, Database Management you will be responsible for developing physical database models for database management systems, providing subject matter expertise in production and non-production databases for data development and maintenance. The role works on complex issues involving one or more technical areas, mentoring employees in database development and ensuring consistency and integration with existing database infrastructure.

How You'll Succeed

  • Data Modeling– You give meaning to data! Withvery goodtechnical skills, you will perform and coordinate complex database modeling in Oracle and Postgres databases. Design the application's data infrastructure using data modeling tools, utilities, and testing approaches. Lead the design, development & management of cost-effective and innovative solutions.
  • Database Design, Development and Maintenance -Engage in designing, developingandmaintainingdatabase systems to meet organizational requirements. Work on assigned tasks individually including database management, performance monitoring, troubleshooting,documentationand collaboration.
  • Strategic Planning -Develop multi-year technology roadmaps that align with the bank’s vision, strategy, and businessobjectives Lead multiple complex projects involving backend systems,new technology, and the enhancement of existing applications.Effectively interact with stakeholders, end users, business analysts, and technical resources to gather requirements, prepare design specifications, and provide technical support for applications, as instructed by senior team members.
  • Leadership skills - Act as the database developer andadministrator, andrundiscussionswith the wider team to ensure the project is on track to meetobjectives Support and mentor intermediate and seniorpeersby sharing knowledge,collaboratingand problem solving.

Who You Are

  • You can demonstrate 7+ years’ experience in Oracle, Postgres, SQL Server with the following hands-on activities: Conceptual Modeling: Develop conceptual models thatrepresentthe data requirements ata high levelLogical Modeling: Create logical models that specify the relationships between data entities and attributes.Physical Modeling: Design the physical implementation of the database, including tables, columns, and indexes.Data Quality Assurance: Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness.Database tuning and Performance Optimization: Monitor database performance,identifyissues, andoptimizedatabase performance.Database backup and recovery: Develop disaster recovery plans and perform routine data backups. Code Implementation: Write, test, andmaintainSQL scripts, stored procedures, functions, and triggers. Analyze and tune specific queries for performance and efficiency. Automation via Shell/Perl Scripting: Developing Linux/Unix shell scripts to automate data loading, system monitoring, backups, and maintenance tasks. Nice to have:Basic understandingof :ETL skills,Agile,Scrum, OOPknowledge, data warehouse, mining, Informatica basics,Data Bricks,Edge, ADF,Cloud technologies.
  • You’re skilled at developing conceptual models that represent high-level data requirements, creating logical models to define relationships between data entities and attributes, and designing the physical implementation of databases, including tables, columns, and indexes.
  • You ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness through rigorous data quality assurance, and you proactively identify and address performance bottlenecks to optimize database performance.
  • You give meaning to data. You enjoy investigating complex problems, and making sense of information. You're confident in your ability to communicate detailed information in an impactful way.
