We’re seeking someone to join our Equity Swaps Trading Technology team as a Java Developer to support the front-office Equity Swaps business area.

In the Technology division, we leverage innovation to build the connections and capabilities that power our Firm, enabling our clients and colleagues to redefine markets and shape the future of our communities.

This is a Lead Software Engineering position at Director level, responsible for developing and maintaining software solutions that support business needs.

What You’ll Do

  • Join one of the core development squads working on trading platform enhancements and maintenance
  • Deliver work ranging from small business logic fixes to larger initiatives improving system efficiency, scalability, stability, and resiliency
  • Develop high-performance solutions using core Java, open-source libraries, relational and NoSQL databases, and messaging technologies
  • Write efficient, high-quality code to support systems with high message volumes and large datasets
  • Own and deliver changes end-to-end from idea through production
  • Translate complex requirements into technical solutions and prioritize work effectively
  • Participate in the full development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, and deployment
  • Develop unit tests, automated integration tests, and support user acceptance testing (UAT) and regression testing
  • Collaborate with global teams and contribute to shared Level 3 production support
  • Adapt to a dynamic business environment and work across multiple technologies to deliver timely, high-quality solutions

What You’ll Bring to the Role

  • Strong experience with core server-side Java, including multi-threading
  • Proven ability to design and build high-quality solutions while avoiding common pitfalls
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Solid understanding of software engineering principles and full software development lifecycle in an enterprise environment
  • Experience working with Linux environments
  • Database experience (ideally Sybase and/or DB2) and strong SQL skills
  • Understanding of message-based architectures (MQ, Pub/Sub, Kafka or similar)
  • Experience with testing methodologies and best practices
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with stakeholders to understand business requirements
  • Interest in learning the business supported by the applications
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Approximately 6+ years of relevant experience
