The Didipio mine is located on Luzon Island in the Philippines and is the Company’s only asset that produces both gold and copper. Didipio was built by OceanaGold in 2013 and operates fully as underground mine, with over 800 employees that support the mine.

To mentor and develop Filipino OGPI Construction Coordinators and Electrical Supervisors in the management of electrical/instrumentation construction and maintenance activities for assigned projects in the Capital Projects Department, to mentor and monitor contractor construction and maintenance work groups to ensure compliance with Didipio HSE Policies and Procedures, and to ensure construction activities are completed to scope, specification, on time and within budget. This role is accountable for the safety of all construction activities for assigned projects on-site at Didipio.



The specific projects under management for this role include Ventilation on Demand, Active De-Watering Pump Station Construction, Borefield Pump System Construction, Water Storage Stope Recovery and Re-Commissioning, Capital Pump Station Remediation and Construction, Open Pit Pumping Upgrade, Extension of the Underground Paste Reticulation Network, Establishment of Underground Level Infrastructure and Extension and Upgrade of the Underground High Voltage Ring Feed.

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Maintain a visible presence in the field whilst on-site by completing minimum of four (4) Critical Control Verifications (CCVs) and/or Task Observations per five (5) days on-site with frontline Filipino Construction Coordinators.
  • Ensure that the 12 lifesaving commitments are discussed daily at pre-start meetings for all construction crews
  • Play an active role in coaching construction work crews and frontline Filipino Construction Coordinators in the pre-shift meeting to ensure that high-risk tasks, hold points and interactions are clearly identified prior to the shift starting.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to the Construction team in the completion of CCVs and drive accountability for meeting time-in-field safety commitments.
  • Establish and maintain systems that ensure that incidents in construction work areas are reported, escalated and entered into INX on the shift that they occur.
  • Establish and maintain systems to ensure that safe work procedures, including relevant permits, are in place and adhered to for all construction activities managed.
  • Establish and maintain systems that ensure that incident investigations for construction activities are completed within required timeframes to the required standard and ensure associated actions are implemented in the required time frames.
  • Establish and maintain systems that ensure hazards within construction work areas are identified, removed and that hazards are logged in INX.
  • Establish and maintain systems that ensure that Contractors under management are meeting contractual and regulatory obligations with respect to HSE.
  • Establish and maintain systems that ensure adequate supervision on every construction worksite under management and that Supervisors possess the necessary experience and training to maintain a safe workplace.

  • Knowledge of OGC Project Management Framework.

Experience:

  • 10+ years’ experience in project delivery within heavy industry.

Education, Qualifications, Tickets, Licenses:

  • Construction management qualifications
