About the Role

An opportunity has arisen for a Construction Superintendent Rail with Electrical, Civil and Communication experience to join our WA Rail Signalling & Communications Team. We are seeking motivated, talented, and driven Construction Superintendents with experience delivering Rail based projects across WA.

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Superintendent Rail will provide leadership and direction for the safe and successful delivery of rail signalling and communications construction activities across multiple worksites within the Pilbara region.

Working on a 14:7 FIFO roster, you will lead site teams, subcontractors and stakeholders to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards within operational rail environments.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced rail professional who enjoys working in regional locations and wants to play a key role in delivering critical infrastructure for some of Australia's largest rail operations.

What you will do

Key Responsibilities:

Safety Leadership

  • Champion a zero-harm safety culture across all construction activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all WHS legislation, site safety plans, permits, and company, client procedures.
  • Lead safety briefings, toolbox meetings, inspections, and incident investigations.
  • Proactively identify and manage construction risks and implement corrective actions.
  • Promote environmental sustainability and ensure compliance with environmental management requirements.

Construction Delivery

  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily site construction activities.
  • Manage construction resources, including labour, plant, equipment, and materials.
  • Monitor project progress against schedule and implement recovery plans where required.
  • Coordinate multiple contractors and subcontractors to ensure effective project delivery.
  • Resolve construction issues, conflicts, and technical challenges in a timely manner.
  • Ensure construction works are completed in accordance with approved designs, specifications, and quality standards.

Stakeholder Management

  • Develop positive working relationships with project teams, clients, contractors, regulators, and community stakeholders.
  • Liaise closely with engineering, planning, commercial, and operational teams to ensure alignment of project objectives.
  • Provide regular project status updates and escalate critical issues as required.

Quality Assurance

  • Ensure all construction activities meet quality requirements and project specifications.
  • Oversee inspections, testing, commissioning, and handover activities.
  • Manage defect identification, rectification, and close-out processes.
  • Maintain accurate project records and documentation.

Commercial and Contract Management

  • Support contract administration activities and monitor contractor performance.
  • Review dayworks information, progress claims, variations, and resource requirements.
  • Identify and manage construction risks impacting project cost, schedule, or scope.
  • Contribute to forecasting, budgeting, and resource planning activities.

Leadership and Team Management

  • Lead and mentor site supervisors and construction personnel.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Promote collaboration and effective communication across all project disciplines.
  • Support workforce development and succession planning initiatives.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Delivery of construction works in accordance with project schedule, budget, and quality objectives.
  • Maintenance of a safe work environment with a strong focus on injury prevention.
  • Effective contractor and stakeholder management.
  • Compliance with all statutory, contractual, environmental, and organisational requirements.
  • Successful completion of project milestones and operational readiness requirements.

What we are looking for

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential

  • Minimum 5 years previous construction experience in a similar role.
  • Electrical A grade licence
  • Experience as an electrical nominee
  • Experience in industry-relevant trade and construction operations of similar scale.
  • Degree or Diploma in Construction Management, Trade Qualification, or a related discipline industry experience.
  • Significant experience in construction delivery within major infrastructure, rail, civil, mining, or industrial projects.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary construction teams and contractors.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, safety systems, and project controls.
  • Current WA driver's licence.
  • People and performance management of subcontractors, suppliers and direct labour.
  • Skill in the review of design documentation, ability to understand drawings, provide constructability review and implement construction methodologies.
  • Safety and environment management, resource management and construction program and methodology.

Desirable

  • Experience delivering rail infrastructure projects for BHP/Fortescue/Rio Tinto rail network.
  • Electrical background or work experience.
  • ICAM, Root Cause Analysis, or equivalent investigation training.
  • Project management or construction management certifications.
  • First Aid and relevant site-based competencies.
