The Construction Site Safety Manager reports directly to the Project Safety Manager and plays a pivotal role in supporting the execution of the project’s safety plan and Company safety program. This role is essential in reducing and eliminating occupational injuries, illnesses, deaths, and financial loss.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

Safety Awareness

  • Conduct daily site observations to ensure that all work activities adhere to company, customer, and regulatory safety standards.
  • Identify potential job hazards and unsafe behaviors, proactively implementing measures to mitigate risks.

Technical Acumen

  • Perform atmospheric testing with precision using appropriate meters, ensuring proper calibration, recording, and storage of testing data.
  • Monitor and manage the use of safety equipment, ensuring proper handling and storage.

Critical Thinking

  • Investigate incidents and accidents, documenting findings, root causes, and corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Prvide real-time recommendations to address unexpected safety concerns as they arise on site.

Quality Control

  • Ensure all safety permits, such as those for hot work, confined spaces, and scaffolding, are accurately managed, up-to-date, and fully compliant.
  • Monitor and maintain safety documentation to meet audit and regulatory standards.

Financial Management

  • Identify safety solutions that minimize project downtime and financial losses while maintaining high safety standards.
  • Track usage of safety resources such as permits and safety gear to ensure cost-effective utilization.

Sustainability

  • Support the implementation of sustainable safety practices, ensuring alignment with both safety and environmental goals.
  • Assist in monitoring compliance with environmental regulations where safety and sustainability intersect.

Customer Focus

  • Respond promptly to site safety needs and concerns, ensuring alignment with client safety requirements and expectations.
  • Communicate effectively with subcontractors, site workers, and clients to foster a culture of safety excellence.

Continuous Improvement

  • Support the development and implementation of corrective actions from incident investigations to promote ongoing safety improvements.
  • Participate in safety meetings, share observations, and contribute to refining project safety procedures.

Project Execution

  • Assist in executing the project’s safety plan by ensuring all safety protocols are in place and operational from day one.
  • Coordinate with project teams to ensure smooth and consistent adherence to safety practices throughout the project lifecycle.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Project Site Safety Manager and site personnel to ensure effective safety coordination and compliance.
  • Facilitate cooperation among site workers, subcontractors, and other teams to enhance overall project safety.

Operational Leadership

  • Lead by example by demonstrating proper safety practices on site and encouraging others to follow suit.
  • Take initiative to address safety issues proactively, even when operating independently on site.

Final offers may vary based on multiple factors, including education, depth and relevance of work experience, relevant licenses and certifications, and may vary from the amounts listed in the job posting.

The Site Safety Manager base salary is between $100,270 - $110,800; eligible for overtime and per-diem based on Site Safety Manager rate, payable as specified in the project contract.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction site safety management or related field.
  • OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety Certification.
  • First Aid/CPR Certification.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • NCCCO Rigger Level I certification preferred; candidates without current certification may be considered if willing to obtain within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with implementing and managing safety programs in construction projects.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal safety regulations and standards.
  • Certification in Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER).
