Job Description

Wood is recruiting for a Construction Safety Facilitator (CFS) to join its Malaysia Business Unit, supporting the delivery of large-scale data centre construction projects. The role will operate as part of the Onsite Owner’s Representative team, providing proactive safety engagement and ensuring strict adherence to environmental, health, and safety standards across all work fronts.

The Role

The Construction Safety Facilitator will act as the Owner’s Representative on site, responsible for promoting a strong safety culture, facilitating hazard identification, and supporting compliance with EHS protocols. This role focuses on frontline engagement, coaching crews, and ensuring that risk controls and safe work practices are implemented consistently in a fast-track, mission-critical construction environment.

  • Monitor and advise on Owner’s EHS policies, contractual requirements, applicable EHS references of the Scope of Work(SOW), regulatory requirements to assure that these are implemented and followed onsite
  • Work with and advise the contractor in identification and implementation of corrective actions for identified deficiencies or issues
  • Review and advise on the Contractor Environmental Health and Safety Plan (CEHSP) for conformance with Owner’s requirements and local regulations
  • Interface and support the construction management team at site by delivering current, accurate and timely data on Contractor EHS performance, including, Leading and Lagging Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s), trends, incident management, environmental monitoring/responsibilities', EHS metrics and other key information that enable DC construction management to make informed timely decisions
  • Participate/attend essential meetings not limited to Stand downs, Orientations, Safety Committee, Activity Briefing, Coordination Meeting etc.
  • Communicate all incidents to local and area stakeholders
  • Ensure adequate site safety walks are conducted as needed with the Contractor’s management representatives
  • Evaluate the completeness and effectiveness of the Contractor’s hazard assessments (RAMS, JHAs, ARTs, PTPs, etc. and communicate any opportunities for improvement
  • Create, validate and communicate lessons learned with contractors
  • Advise Trade Partners on applicable Operational EHS requirements and Contractual Exhibits ensuring they are conformed to
  • Establish a collaborative relationship with the Owner’s Operation team so as to facilitate the management of EHS aspect of Construction activities
  • Attend and facilitate Owner’s specific training, campaign and initiatives
  • Support global construction EHS team in developing, reviewing and executing global programs and initiatives
  • Providing assistance with localization of global programs such as translation and transculturation as needed
  • Conduct topic specific focused field audit, document verification and personal interviews as needed
  • Minimum of 50% of working hours shall be in the field engaging, coaching, observing site work activities

Expected:

Diploma or certification in Occupational Health & Safety or related field

Minimum 5–8 years of site-based safety experience on large construction projects

Experience within mission-critical/data centre environments is highly desirable

Strong knowledge of EHS regulations and safe work practices

Excellent communication and engagement skills
