Job Description

Create your best future and join Westpac as a Construction Risk Manager, Real Estate

What’s the role?

You’ll play a key role supporting Westpac’s property finance business by helping identify, assess and manage construction risk across a diverse portfolio of real estate developments. Working closely with relationship teams and property risk specialists, you’ll provide practical insight from origination through to construction delivery.

Day to day, you’ll review development proposals, visit sites, engage external consultants and provide clear, well-reasoned advice on construction, cost, time and delivery risks. As projects move into construction, you’ll stay involved by monitoring progress, attending site meetings and supporting informed decision making as risks emerge or change.

This is a full-time role based in Sydney, giving you exposure to a wide range of asset classes including residential, retail, office and industrial developments, and the opportunity to build strong relationships across the real estate and construction sector.

What do I need?

You’ll bring strong construction and development knowledge, along with the confidence to provide practical, commercial risk advice.

  • Hands-on experience assessing construction and development risk across property projects.
  • Ability to analyse feasibility studies, programmes, contracts and technical consultant reports.
  • Practical knowledge of building contracts, delivery models and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Confidence working with developers, builders, consultants and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong judgement, clear communication skills, and a proactive approach to identifying and managing risk.

Why join us?
