Job Description

Role: Construction Product Regulations

Contract role

Location: Remote, UK coverage

We are currently seeking independent technical assessors with experience in Construction Product Regulations (CPR) and construction product testing and certification to support the UKAS assessment programme.

This role is ideal for experienced professionals with a strong background in product development, manufacturing, testing, inspection, or certification of construction products. You will play a key role in assessing organisations against the technical requirements of ISO/IEC 17065 (for product certification bodies) and ISO/IEC 17025 (for testing laboratories), ensuring compliance with the Assessment and Verification of Constancy of Performance (AVCP) systems under the CPR.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and assess the application of AVCP procedures (Systems 1, 1+, 2+, and 3)
  • Support UKAS in the assessment of Factory Production Control (FPC) and product certification schemes
  • Evaluate Declaration of Performance (DoP) processes and conformity with harmonised or designated standards
  • Assess correct use and documentation of CE / UKCA marking
  • Review traceability, labelling, and technical documentation for regulatory compliance
  • Assist in the evaluation of testing methods and inspection requirements for construction products
  • Provide expert input on UKAS assessment reports and findings

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • At least 5 years' relevant experience in one or more of the following:
  • Product design, development, or manufacturing
  • Product testing or inspection
  • Application of construction product standards or certification schemes
  • Strong working knowledge of the Construction Products Regulation, CE/UKCA marking, and associated AVCP systems
  • Familiarity with harmonised European standards (hENs) and UK designated standards
  • Awareness of regulatory frameworks, quality systems, and potential misuse of construction products
  • Understanding of testing, inspection, and certification processes

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Membership of a recognised professional body (desirable but not essential)

This is a flexible contract role with remote working, suitable for technically skilled individuals looking to contribute to the integrity and quality of the UK’s construction product certification landscape.
