Position Information The Texas Department of Transportation's Houston District is seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Construction Records Auditor to support the successful delivery of transportation infrastructure projects throughout the district. This position in the District Construction Office plays a critical role in ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and compliance of highway construction project records and payments in accordance with state and federal requirements. The Construction Records Auditor serves as a subject matter expert for construction contract administration, providing guidance to project personnel, interpreting contract requirements, and ensuring construction documentation supports contractor payments and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will work independently while collaborating with Area Office and District Construction Office staff, contractors, and consultants to promote consistency, accountability, and continuous improvement.The Texas Department of Transportation reserves the sole right in determining the level of position based on the applicant's work experience, education, skill level and all other appropriate factors, and based on business needs.

Position Description

Construction Records Auditor IAudits construction project records; verifies contractor compliance with state and federal requirements and trains others. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.Construction Records Auditor IIAudits and conducts final review of construction project records; verifies contractor compliance with state and federal requirements and trains others. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.Essential Duties:Construction Records Auditor IAssists with Federal Highway Administration and departmental reviews of construction records and may act as liaison with this agency.Participates in meetings regarding contract administration.Performs and reviews construction records audits and coordinates with area engineers on monthly and final estimates, change orders, supplemental agreements and work orders.Prepares related correspondence and reports.Verifies contractors' compliance with federal requirements for EEO and the on-the-job training, Disadvantaged Business Enterprise and Small Business Enterprise programs.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.Construction Records Auditor IIIncludes all essential duties listed for Construction Records Auditor I as well as:Performs final review of contracts.Advises contractors' bookkeepers on record-keeping procedures. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:Construction Records Auditor IEducation: High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies. Experience: No experience required.Related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum QualificationsLicenses and Certifications: Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.Construction Records Auditor IIEducation: High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies. Experience: 1 year in Record-keeping, bookkeeping, auditing, or other related experience.Related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum QualificationsLicenses and Certifications: Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
