The Construction Project Manager I and II will be responsible and accountable for implementing major, complex field construction and engineering projects.


Areas of responsibility include:

  • Project planning, execution, control and close out for the management of engineering, procurement, construction, testing, and turn over to the customer.
  • Responsible for management and leadership of a diverse group of team members including union and non-union, consultants and contractors involved in large-scale gas pipeline construction and restoration activities utilizing advanced knowledge of gas operations and construction processes to meet project timelines, safety objectives and compliance with state and local regulations.Obtains and manages adequate resources to meet all project objectives in the most efficient and effective manner.
  • Coach and mentor other Project Managers and support staff. Potential for significant travel away from home when projects are located out of town and/or state.
  • Requires ability to influence team members without positional authority.
  • Responsible to develop and maintain a project culture which creates high performance results in the areas of safe work environment, quality performance and regulatory compliance.
  • Fosters and maintains positive relationships with all internal and external project interfaces including but not limited to government, customer, regulator, media, contractor audit, supplier, legal and general public interests.


This is a job family posting (Construction Project Manager I/Construction Project Manager II). Experience will be the determining factor.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing moderately complex field construction projects inclusive of project integration management, scope management, time management, cost management, quality management, human resource management, communications management, risk management and procurement management, complying with legal requirements, construction management and financial accountability. Provides on-site review and direction to ensure all project objectives are met.
  • Coordinate procurement effort with team members and other departments for engineering services, material and equipment, and installation contracts.
  • Coordinate design engineering effort, preparation of specifications and construction documents for medium to large-scale field gas operations/pipeline project.
  • Collaborate and communicate with the client and stakeholders on project objectives. Report project schedule, cost and performance status to client, staff, and regulatory agencies as required.
  • Coach and mentor project support staff on project management skills and activities.
  • Implement procedures for effective control of project activities.

Minimum Qualifications

Construction Project Manager I

  • High School Diploma, HSED, or GED
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license
  • 1+ years Working with Federal, State, and Local Codes and Regulatory Requirements.
  • 3+ years Construction operations / management.
  • 3+ years Experience with gas distribution or underground pipeline utility construction.
  • 3+ years Project management of construction / capital equipment projects.

Construction Project Manager II

  • High School Diploma, HSED, or GED
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license
  • 1+ years Working with Federal, State, and Local Codes and Regulatory Requirements.
  • 3+ years Formal or informal leadership role.
  • 5+ years Construction operations / management.
  • 5+ years Experience with gas distribution or underground pipeline utility construction.
  • 5+ years Project management of construction / capital equipment projects.

Preferred Qualifications

Construction Project Manager I

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 3+ years directly related experience in: Field Operations, oil/gas industry, pipeline safety, construction inspection, damage prevention, utility construction/design experience, or construction contracts.
  • Previous experience as a Project Manager/ Project Coordinator/ Project Leader
  • Accredited Project Manager Certification

Construction Project Manager II

  • Bachelor’s Degree in (Business, Engineering, or Construction/Engineering Technology) and 7+ years directly related experience in: Field Operations, oil/gas industry, pipeline safety, construction inspection, damage prevention, utility construction/design experience, or construction contracts.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager/ Project Coordinator/ Project Leader
  • Accredited Project Manager Certification

End Date: 04/16/2026

Pay Range Minimum $90,507.56

Pay Range Maximum $156,125.32

The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs. At WEC Energy Group, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
