Job Description

United Health Services (UHS) is seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to lead facility construction, facility renovation, and capital improvement projects across our healthcare system. This is a hands-on role focused on managing projects within active healthcare environments, requiring a strong on-site presence to oversee construction activities, coordinate stakeholders, and ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.

There is more than one location associated with this position. This is either because there are multiple openings at different sites, or the successful candidate will be required to float across multiple UHS facilities. Position Responsibilities

  • Lead construction, renovation, and facility improvement projects across UHS locations.
  • Maintain a regular on-site presence to monitor construction progress, conduct walkthroughs, address issues, and ensure quality standards are met.
  • Manage all phases of projects, including planning, design, budgeting, construction, and occupancy.
  • Develop and execute project plans, schedules, budgets, and status reports.
  • Coordinate architects, engineers, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure construction activities comply with safety regulations, building codes, healthcare requirements, and UHS standards.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate project risks, delays, and budget impacts.

What We're Looking For

  • Demonstrated experience managing construction, renovation, facility modernization, or capital improvement projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, project scheduling, budgeting, and contractor management.
  • Ability to effectively oversee projects in the field and maintain a visible on-site presence throughout construction.
  • Experience coordinating multiple stakeholders and managing projects within occupied buildings or complex operating environments.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Healthcare construction or healthcare facilities experience is highly desirable.
  • Lead end-to-end project lifecycle from scope definition through execution, delivery, and transition to operations
  • Partner with stakeholders to gather requirements and define clear, achievable project deliverables
  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, timelines, milestones, and resource allocations
  • Monitor project performance, proactively identify risks/issues, and implement corrective actions to stay on track
  • Manage scope, schedule, and budget through structured change control processes
  • Communicate project status, risks, and key updates to leadership and stakeholders on a regular basis
  • Conduct on-site engagement with hospital departments to identify risks early and ensure minimal disruption to patient care
  • Coordinate department relocations related to construction or renovation projects
  • Evaluate and recommend solutions for scope, cost, and timeline changes
  • Ensure successful project closure, including handoff to operations and stakeholder acceptance

Position Qualifications

Minimum Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Four (4) Years of Project Management experience
  • PMI (PMP) Certification within 12 - 24 months of hire

Preferred:

  • Five (5) years of healthcare experience
  • Three (3) years Construction and/or Facilities Management experience
  • Project Management Certification (PMP) or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)
