Construction Mechanical Manager - Energy Sector, Kolwezi

Summary :

Gladys Synergies is recruiting on behalf of a leading renewable energy and power solutions group in the Democratic Republic of Congo for a Construction Mechanical Manager.

The company specializes in Solar PV, BESS, backup power and engineering solutions and is seeking an experienced professional with a strong background in power and infrastructure construction. The role will lead to mechanical construction, EPC/subcontractor management, HSE, QA/QC, commissioning and O&M handover across utility-scale Solar PV/BESS projects. The position is based in Kolwezi, Lualaba.

Key Responsibilities :

• Lead and coordinate all mechanical construction activities across Solar PV, BESS and associated infrastructure
• Manage mechanical installation, equipment setting, lifting, rigging, welding, bolting, pipework, HVAC and tracker installation
• Prepare daily/weekly progress reports, risk assessments and mitigation plans
• Manage EPC contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and OEM representatives
• Manage NCRs, punch lists, as-built documentation and handover dossiers
• Oversee testing, commissioning, FAT/SAT and commissioning readiness
• Support the successful handover of completed assets to O&M

Profile : 

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering, or a relevant technical qualification
• Extensive background in power, energy, or large-scale infrastructure construction
• Hands-on involvement in utility-scale Solar PV, BESS, or power projects
• Expertise in mechanical installation, including lifting, rigging, piping, HVAC, equipment alignment, and trackers
• Experience overseeing EPC contractors and subcontractors, with a strong focus on HSE
• Ability to coordinate civil, electrical, and mechanical activities across complex project sites
• Proficiency in Primavera P6/MS Project, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Excel, with solid reporting skills
• Effective leadership and stakeholder management, with fluent English and readiness to work on-site in the DRC
