The opportunity
The Construction Manager is responsible for the successful delivery of a portfolio of water and utility projects across the Otago region encompassing Maintenance, Construction and early contractor involvement. This role will identify and manage the construction pipeline within the wider Otago region, growing the resources, capacity and capability of the team while providing clear and positive leadership.
You will be based out of our Dunedin office with regular site visits required.
What you’ll do
This role oversees and directs the construction team to manage projects from conception to completion, reviewing project deliverables and estimating costs. Key objectives include working collaboratively within the South region to grow resource and project management capability into our Water Maintenance and Construction teams
You are required to work closely with our clients internal and external and to ensure that the Downer reputation as a competent and capable tier one contractor is maintained while ensuring the highest standards of Zero Harm are always met

What we’re looking for
Tertiary qualification or equivalent in Engineering and a project management certification
8 + year experience in water/wastewater/utilities industry
Ability to read, understand and ensure contract specifications and contract requirements are fully implemented
Demonstrable experience of managing multiple sites including suppliers and sub-contractors
Demonstrable experience in preparing and submitting Monthly Claims and Financial Reporting
Highly desirable to have proven Business Management experience with responsibility and accountability for staff, and plant
Proven experience in managing people and team cultures.
