The Role
Wood is currently recruiting for a Construction Manager based out of Maryland. This role will be responsible for ensuring full construction integration to project delivery by encouraging regular engineering, procurement and construction interface meetings.

Typical responsibilities:
- Responsible for all aspects of construction management project of various sizes and complexities
- Accountable for the overall contract construction effort and commissioning strategy; including safety, planning, cost and delivery of all field works on the Contract
- Accountable for supervising, organizing and coordinating head office, site construction and commissioning teams to provide high quality support in accordance with the Contract
- Responsible for ensuring full construction integration to project delivery by encouraging regular engineering, procurement and construction interface meetings
- Ensure work pack and material delivery aligns with construction mobilization
- Provide construction expertise during FEED, Detail Design, in the form of constructability reviews, scope minimization and ensuring safest and most efficient construction methods adopted
- Actively engages with the other contractors / sub-contractors to ensure seamless delivery at site(s)
- Engages with individual project teams to ensure correct level and sequence of Work Breakdown Structure adopted at project kick off
- Ensure all Site activities are performed in a safe, environmentally responsible manner with integrity and quality delivering HS&E targets
- Oversight of home office team to ensure quality construction input to the integrated engineering and planning processes
- Delivery of site teams to meet Client’s business schedules
- Delivery of reduced costs at site by continual review of performances and improvements by the site teams
- Ensure the site construction and commissioning process with regard to the provision and use of corporate and project specific procedures, processes and systems
- Monitor the competency and training requirements of all construction/ commissioning personnel
- Ensure safety, quality and environmental responsibilities and accountabilities have been defined and communicated to workers engaged within their area(s) of control
- Ensure all workers within their area(s) of control receive appropriate training to perform their work in a safe, legal and competent manner including any Health and Safety and site-specific inductions
- Manages and controls project cost and schedule of assigned discipline / subset of on site construction. Utilize Commercial processes to capture variations effectively
- Works with engineering in the design phases to influence the design for optimum constructability

Expected:
- An apropriate level of field construction experience, typically gained through a minimum of 10 years of experience in a relevant industry, or through a Degree in Engineering, Technology, or related field, with at least 5 years of experience.
- Experience in Industrial construction projects including Manufacturing, Laboratories,Healthcare, Pharmaceutical, or Food/Beverage
- Proven experience in the management of site construction and commissioning teams. Preference for EPCM experience.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency in document creation and editing (Microsoft Office Products such as Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Excel)
- Well-developed interpersonal skills are necessary in order to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing requirements to a wide range of client groups (internal and external)
- Self-motivated, ability to work independently, or in a team environment, and provide leadership, support, direction, and consultation
- Ability to manage multiple initiatives with strong organizational skills to meet project deadlines
- Willingness to travel, participate in activities, network and build relationships
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to organize, analyze and report on various parameters and data sets
- Ability to proactively detect challenges to safety, quality, cost and schedule that will ensure development and execution of effective prevention, mitigation, or corrective actions
- Able to establish and maintain a positive and effective customer relationship, ensuring payment terms are met, and communicating any delays.
- Well organized, observant, good interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work with timelines/targets.
