Construction Manager

Our Gisborne team is looking for an experienced Construction Manager to lead the delivery of civil and structures projects across the region. This role is suited to someone who thrives on site‑based delivery, strong client relationships, and providing technical and commercial leadership throughout the construction phase.

You’ll take a lead role during construction, acting as Engineer’s Representative and supporting project teams to deliver safe, high‑quality outcomes. Working closely with clients, contractors and internal stakeholders, you’ll ensure projects are delivered to programme, budget and quality expectations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Acting as Engineer’s Representative and/or Site Engineer during construction phases
  • Managing civil and transportation projects from construction through to completion
  • Preparing contract documentation, evaluating tenders, and administering contracts (NZS3910)
  • Managing project controls including programme, cost, risk, variations and reporting
  • Providing financial oversight including forecasting and budget tracking
  • Supporting and mentoring project managers and wider civil teams
  • Building strong, trusted relationships with clients, contractors and local authorities

About you

  • Significant construction and contract management experience, with a strong understanding of New Zealand civil infrastructure delivery
  • Ideally, 10+ years’ experience in construction and contract management
  • Strong knowledge of NZS3910 and civil construction practices
  • Experience across civil, transport, bridges and/or structures projects
  • Sound financial and commercial acumen
  • Confidence managing programmes, risks, variations and reporting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A collaborative, solutions‑focused approach and strong client focus
