About the Position:

John Holland is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead the delivery of a major water infrastructure program within our Infrastructure Division. This is a senior site‑based leadership role responsible for the safe, efficient and high‑quality execution of construction activities from commencement through to completion.

You will provide strong leadership to site and delivery teams, working closely with project leadership, engineering, commercial and client stakeholders to ensure the project is delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage all construction activities across the project, ensuring delivery in line with safety, quality, program and commercial objectives
• Provide strong visible leadership to site teams, supervisors and subcontractors, fostering a culture of safety, accountability and performance excellence
• Ensure full compliance with WHS legislation, John Holland safety systems and project‑specific safety management plans
• Lead construction sequencing, methodologies and staging in collaboration with engineering and planning teams
• Oversee subcontractor performance, ensuring works are delivered safely, to specification and in accordance with contractual requirements
• Coordinate closely with engineering, commercial, environmental and quality teams to support integrated project delivery
• Identify, manage and mitigate construction risks, issues and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle
• Ensure quality assurance and quality control requirements are met, including inspections, hold points and defect management
• Drive productivity, constructability and cost efficiency outcomes across the project
• Maintain strong working relationships with client representatives, consultants, regulators and key stakeholders
• Contribute to project reporting, forecasting and performance reviews
• Ensure all construction activities are delivered in accordance with John Holland policies, systems and procedures

Key Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or related discipline)
• Significant experience progressing through an engineering‑led delivery pathway ideal (Site Engineer → Project Engineer → Senior Project Engineer → Area Manager or equivalent)
• Proven experience operating at Construction Manager or senior construction leadership level on large infrastructure projects
• Strong background in water infrastructure delivery (pipelines, treatment plants, pump stations or similar projects highly regarded)
• Demonstrated experience leading large multidisciplinary site teams and subcontractors
• Strong understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing and program management
• Proven safety leadership with a strong commitment to zero harm outcomes
• Solid understanding of quality, environmental and contractual requirements in infrastructure delivery
• Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to perform in complex, high‑risk live construction environments
