Job Description

Alamos Gold’s Lynn Lake project is one the highest-grade open pit gold deposits in Canada. The Lynn Lake project is located in northern Manitoba and consists of two primary sites, MacLellan and Gordon, which are just east of the Town of Lynn Lake. The Construction Manager will be responsible for all construction related activities on the project, starting with the development of construction contract strategies and developing the formal contract scope documents which supports the bidding process. Once awarded and the contracts are mobilized to site the Construction Manager, supported by the onsite Construction Management team, will take accountability for the performance of all contractors on site activities including adherence to safety, cost, quality and schedule targets.

The role will be a clear advocate to communicate and uphold Alamos’s Safety values. As Alamos Gold’s Lynn Lake Site Owner they will have accountability for the safety performance of all site activities and will ensure the entire Safety, Health and Emergency Response protocols are prepared and upheld during the construction phases.

Leading through construction, commissioning and handover phases, the Construction Manager will work collaboratively to prepare the sites newly constructed assets for transfer to Alamos Gold’s operations team in an orderly and planned manner

Primary Responsibilities

  • Be an outstanding Safety leader, demonstrating mature and focused safe work practices
  • Develop entire project construction contract strategies utilizing AWP/CWP methodologies
  • Lead preparation and review of all construction contract scopes of work and construction proposals.
  • Ensure constructability of project facilities, including laydown planning.
  • Develop crane placement strategies for efficient build progress
  • Ensure construction schedules are developed and achieved to meet overall project completion goals.
  • Review all project-related studies, reports, and engineering documentation.
  • Direct site early works and construction activities.
  • Provide support and advice for engineering, procurement, and construction activities.
  • Assist with contractor and vendor management, including effective change management for construction contracts.
  • Liaise with project commercial and cost control functions to ensure project reporting calendars are maintained.
  • Assist with selection and onboarding of Owner’s construction team members.
  • Coordinate meetings, site activities, and resources including consultants, contractors and employees as required to meet targets.
  • Ensure corporate and site Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures are followed.
  • Help ensure project is fit for purpose and delivered on time and on budget.
