Job Description

Responsible for supervising and mentoring construction and development inspectors while ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices. This role involves overseeing inspections for both vertical and horizontal infrastructure projects, staying current with evolving construction regulations, and ensuring quality control on major infrastructure developments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction inspection, leadership, and project management.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred) with a minimum of five (5) years of experience; or fifteen (15) years of related experience with a municipality, public entity, or a consulting civil engineering firm; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements:

Possession of a valid Class C Texas driver's license or higher.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of vertical (buildings, structures) and horizontal (roads, bridges, utilities) construction
  • Familiarity with industry codes and standards (e.g., ACI, AASHTO, OSHA, IBC, NEC, local building codes)
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for mentoring staff and the ability to work with a diverse team.
  • Proficiency in construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work in field conditions and perform physical inspections.
  • Skill in the use of personal computers and applicable programs, applications and systems.
  • Experience managing budgets and financial reporting is a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work is light and requires exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, crouching, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motions, speaking, standing, talking, and walking.
