Salary: $6,469 to $8,194 per month (SR-24, Step C to I)

Plan, direct and coordinate a program of maintenance, repair, and construction for State highways, harbors, or airports and related structures and facilities in a district or area presenting moderately difficult and complex construction and maintenance problems; maintains on-site surveillance of contract construction and maintenance projects; and performs other related duties as required.

Overall paid or unpaid experience must be of such scope and responsibility as to conclusively demonstrate that you have the ability to perform the duties of the position. Note: Your calculation of experience must be based on full-time, 40-hour work weeks. Part-time experience must be pro-rated. Example: Twelve months of experience at 20 hours/week is equivalent to six months of experience, not one year. Also, hours worked in excess of 40 hours/week will not be credited. Example: Twelve months of experience at 60 hours/week is equivalent to one year of experience, not one and a half years.
Graduation from high school. Excess work experience of the type and quality described below, or work experience requiring the ability to read and comprehend and apply written directions or a high degree of verbal skill may be substituted for Education on a year-for-year basis.
Five (5) years of experience in one OR a combination of the following:
A. Work experience in the construction, remodeling, repair, alteration or maintenance of
highways, harbors, airports or other facilities and structures which required knowledge of
the practices, methods, techniques, materials, costs, equipment and tools necessary to
carry out these activities;
B. Professional engineering work experience which required knowledge of the construction,
remodeling, repair, alteration or maintenance of highways, harbors, airports, or other
facilities and structures; and the knowledge and application of engineering practices and
the physical, mathematical and engineering principles.
Two (2) years of work experience which included such factors as establishing work methods and procedures; planning, scheduling and reviewing the work of others; preparing cost estimates for labor, equipment and materials; and maintaining records and reports of costs, supply, equipment and personnel data.
Applicants must possess administrative aptitude. Administrative aptitude will be considered to have been met when there is strong affirmative evidence of the necessary administrative aptitudes and abilities. Such evidence may be in the form of success in regular or special assignment or projects which involved administrative problems (e.g., in planning, organizing, promoting, and directing a program, including policy and budgetary considerations; and/or providing staff advice and assistance in such matter); interest in administration demonstrated by the performance of work assignment in a manner which clearly indicates awareness of administrative problems and the ability to solve them; completion of educational or training courses in the area of administration accompanied by the application of principles, which were learned, to work assignments; management's observation and evaluation of the applicant's leadership and administrative capabilities; success in trial assignments to managerial and/or administrative tasks.
Driver's License: Applicants must possess a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.
Federal Criminal History Records Check: In accordance with Federal regulations, persons who are being considered for employment in positions which require unescorted access to secured areas at the airport, must undergo a pre-employment fingerprint-based criminal history record check. In order to be granted the Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) clearance, prospective employees must not have been convicted, or found "not guilty by reason of insanity," of a disqualifying criminal offense within 10 years from the date of the application. Upon recommendation for hire, prospective employees will be required to successfully undergo the fingerprint-based criminal history record check and be found free of disqualifying convictions during the preceding ten years. The cost for the records check will be the applicant's responsibility.
