Reporting to the Project Manager – HIA and Process plant, you will be responsible for leading and delivering all Structural, Mechanical, and Piping (SMP) construction activities, ensuring effective execution of project scope.
You will plan workloads, delegate tasks, and provide hands-on leadership to your team while ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality project delivery in conjunction with the EPCM provider.
This role will conducted in a remote working environment on a FIFO basis.
Responsibilities:
Ensure effective implementation of the Engineering Contractor Plan (ECP) for SMP construction
Develop and execute construction strategies aligned with overall project objectives
Lead and coordinate all SMP construction activities across project areas and interfaces
Oversee internal and external resources required for safe, efficient, and quality project execution
Provide leadership to multidisciplinary teams including supervisors, engineers, and contractors
Maintain and update State of Work (SOW) and preconstruction documentation
Establish and maintain strong relationships with contractors and vendors to meet project obligations
Manage and resolve delays, risks, and disruptions effectively
Oversee SMP construction from concept through completion, ensuring compliance with design, safety, and quality standards
Manage pre-assemblies of steel structures
Conduct QA/QC audits with relevant departments
Review project schedules, deliverables, and cost estimates to ensure alignment with project targets
Monitor compliance with all applicable building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards
Ensure adoption of best-practice construction techniques for structural, mechanical, and piping works
Deliver regular performance updates, targets, and progress briefings to stakeholders
Ensure all work is completed safely, on time, within scope, and to the required quality standards
Qualification Requirements:
Full Grade 12 School Certificate
Degree or Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Structural, or related discipline)
Experience and Skills Requirements:
Minimum of 15 years’ experience in construction, with strong focus on Structural, Mechanical, and Piping (SMP) projects
Proven experience within the mining industry, including feasibility study (FS) stage projects
Demonstrated leadership and team management capability in large-scale projects
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills (written and verbal)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and primavera P6.
Sound knowledge of safe working practices and construction safety standards
Ability to manage remote project delivery environments effectively
Must hold a valid Driver’s License
