Are you an experienced Construction Inspector with a strong background in public works and infrastructure projects? Lumos & Associates is seeking a detail-oriented professional to support critical infrastructure development throughout the Sacramento region.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in the field and has hands-on experience inspecting water, sewer, storm drain, concrete, and transportation/roadway projects for public agencies.

What You Will Do

As a Construction Inspector, you will play a key role in ensuring public infrastructure projects are built safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all applicable standards.

Primary responsibilities include:

• Perform field inspections on public works projects, including:
  • Water distribution systems
  • Sanitary sewer systems
  • Storm drain systems
  • Concrete improvements (curb, gutter, sidewalks, structures)
• Roadway and transportation projects
• Verify construction complies with plans, specifications, and agency standards.
• Prepare daily inspection reports documenting progress, quantities, and issues.
• Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and public agency representatives.
• Monitor material quality, installation methods, and workmanship.
• Identify deficiencies and ensure corrective actions are completed.
• Support project meetings and provide field input.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and job-site requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of construction activities and testing results.

What We Are Looking For

Experience

• 3+ years of construction inspection experience on public works or civil infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated experience in utility (water/sewer/storm drain) and roadway construction.
• Experience working with municipal agencies, special districts, or transportation agencies.
• California public works experience strongly preferred (Sacramento region a plus).

Certifications (Preferred or Required – One or More)

• NICET Level I or higher – Construction Materials Testing
• Caltrans JTCP (Soils/Aggregate or Asphalt)
• ACI Field Technician Grade I
• ICC Reinforced Concrete Special Inspector
• ATSSA Traffic Control Supervisor
• Nuclear Gauge / Radiation Safety Certification
• OSHA 10

Physical & Travel Requirements

• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and terrain.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to work overtime as needed to meet project deadlines.
• Ability to travel between job sites and offices using a company vehicle.
• Valid driver's license and driving record with 3 or less demerit points.

Pay Transparency Statement

The compensation range reflects the Company’s reasonable expectation at the time of posting. We consider a number of factors when making individual compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, and other business needs.

California hourly pay range $45—$60 USD
