We’re looking for a Construction Foreperson to join our Pavements team in Cromwell, Central Otago. You’ll lead and coordinate day‑to‑day pavement construction activities, supervise a small crew and plant, and ensure work is delivered safely, on time, and to a high standard, helping us deliver durable, high‑quality roads for the Central Otago community.
Mō te tūranga | About the role
As a Construction Foreperson, you’ll take a hands-on leadership role delivering pavement construction works across Central Otago. This is a predominantly site-based role, working outdoors and leading a small crew, plant, and subcontractors to safely deliver day-to-day operations. You’ll be responsible for coordinating work, maintaining high safety and quality standards, and keeping projects on track. The work you lead directly contributes to safer, longer-lasting roads that support local communities and keep Central Otago moving.
Ngā kawenga matua | Key responsibilities
Lead day-to-day pavement construction activities, supervising a small crew, plant, and subcontractors on site
Coordinate labour, plant, materials, and suppliers to ensure works are delivered safely, on time, and to specification
Deliver high-quality workmanship by maintaining safety, quality, and environmental standards across all sites
Operate and oversee the use of construction plant and machinery, ensuring only trained and licensed operators are used
Complete and review required documentation including timesheets, pre-starts, daily job sheets, plant usage, and hazard identification
Support and motivate your crew through hands-on leadership, clear communication, and leading by example

Minimum 5 years’ experience in civil or pavement construction, with strong hands-on site knowledge
Proven experience leading crews in a foreperson or supervisor capacity
High level of machine operating experience, including grader operation
Class 4 driver licence with WTR endorsements (Class 5 desirable but not essential)
Strong understanding of health, safety, quality, and environmental requirements on construction sites
Ability to read and work to plans, programmes, and specifications
Clear communicator able to work effectively with crews, subcontractors, and management
