Parsons is seeking a highly skilled and results-driven Construction Engineer – Dewatering to oversee and execute complex groundwater control and dewatering operations for a landmark giga-project in the Tabuk region.
In this specialized role, you will be responsible for ensuring that massive structural excavations, deep foundations, and infrastructure works are executed in safe, dry, and stable conditions. Given the unique coastal and desert hydrogeology of the region, you will act as the technical authority on-site, overseeing contractors to guarantee that dewatering systems are designed, installed, and operated efficiently, safely, and in strict compliance with environmental regulations.
What You'll Be Doing
Site Supervision & Execution: Oversee the installation, operation, and maintenance of comprehensive dewatering systems (deep wells, wellpoints, educator systems, and sump pumping) across major excavation zones.
Technical Review: Evaluate contractor submittals, including hydrogeological calculations, dewatering system designs, monitoring plans, and settlement risk assessments.
Groundwater & Environmental Monitoring: Monitor groundwater drawdown, discharge water quality, and flow rates. Ensure that water disposal complies with rigorous environmental regulations and sustainability mandates of the giga-project.
Risk & Settlement Mitigation: Proactively identify risks related to ground movement, settlement of adjacent structures, or base heave, and enforce immediate corrective actions or recharging strategies if necessary.
Contractor Management: Conduct daily site inspections to ensure contractors adhere to project specifications, schedules, Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) standards, and HSE protocols.
Progress Reporting: Prepare detailed engineering reports, daily logs, and data analysis regarding dewatering performance and groundwater trends for the Construction Manager and client leadership.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, Hydrogeology, or a closely related engineering discipline.
Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in civil construction, with at least 5 years dedicated exclusively to large-scale dewatering and groundwater control systems.
Project Track Record: Proven experience working on major infrastructure, deep basements, marine structures, or mega-projects ($1B+ value) involving deep excavations and high water tables.
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of soil mechanics, hydrogeology, pumping equipment, and groundwater modeling data. Familiarity with instrumentation used for monitoring settlement and piezometric levels.
Geographic Expertise: Experience in the Middle East (GCC region) is highly advantageous, particularly dealing with hyper-saline coastal aquifers or arid/desert geotechnical environments.
Problem-Solving under Pressure: Ability to quickly troubleshoot pump failures, unexpected ground conditions, or sudden water ingress on a fast-paced construction site.
HSE Commitment: Uncompromising commitment to safety, specifically regarding deep excavation safety, electrical safety for pumping systems, and environmental discharge controls.
Effective Communication: Strong collaborative skills to interface seamlessly with geotechnical teams, structural engineers, and multi-national contractor teams.
