Overview
We are seeking an experienced Construction Engineer to support the delivery of a prestigious large-scale development project in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The Construction Engineer will be responsible for supervising and coordinating construction activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications, quality standards, approved schedules, and health and safety requirements. Working closely with the Resident Engineer, Construction Manager, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams, the successful candidate will provide technical oversight, monitor site execution, verify progress, and facilitate the successful completion of complex building and hospitality developments.
Your role
- Supervise and monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, contract requirements, and applicable standards.
- Coordinate daily site activities among contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and project stakeholders.
- Review construction methodologies, work procedures, method statements, and technical submissions.
- Monitor project progress and ensure works are executed in accordance with approved schedules and milestones.
- Assist in identifying construction risks, delays, and technical issues and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Review shop drawings, material submittals, and technical documentation for compliance with project requirements.
- Conduct regular site inspections and ensure construction quality is maintained throughout project execution.
- Coordinate with civil, structural, architectural, MEP, and specialist disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery.
- Verify that construction materials and workmanship meet approved quality standards and specifications.
- Witness inspections, testing activities, and commissioning processes to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Monitor contractor performance, productivity, and resource allocation.
- Review and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs), site queries, and technical clarifications.
- Ensure compliance with approved Quality Assurance and Quality Control procedures.
- Monitor Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) compliance and report unsafe conditions or practices.
- Verify quantities and completed works to support progress reporting and payment certification.
- Participate in project coordination meetings, technical reviews, and progress meetings.
- Assist with the management of variations, site instructions, and non-conformance reports.
- Support testing, commissioning, snagging, de-snagging, and handover activities.
- Maintain accurate project records, inspection reports, and technical documentation.
- Contribute to project closeout activities and final documentation submissions.
About you
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 10+ years of overall professional experience in construction and site supervision.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Construction Engineer on major building projects.
- Proven experience in large-scale buildings, convention centers, hotels, resorts, mixed-use developments, commercial complexes, or hospitality projects.
- Experience within Site Supervision Consultancy, PMC, or Engineering Consultancy environments is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing, and project execution processes.
- Experience reviewing shop drawings, material submissions, method statements, and technical reports.
- Knowledge of international building codes, construction standards, and engineering best practices.
- Familiarity with QA/QC procedures, inspection requirements, and testing protocols.
- Working knowledge of construction contracts, including FIDIC principles, is desirable.
- Strong problem-solving and technical coordination skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and engineering software applications.
- Experience working on projects in Saudi Arabia or the GCC region is highly preferred.
- Excellent communication, report-writing, and stakeholder management skills.
- Membership in a recognized professional engineering institution is an advantage.
- Fluency in English is required; Arabic language skills are an advantage.
