Hinkley Point C (HPC) is the first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years, HPCs two EPR reactors will be capable of generating 3.26GW of secure, low carbon electricity for 60 years, enough electricity to power around 6 million homes. In addition to the projects ‘clean energy’ benefits, HPC will create thousands of jobs and bring lasting benefits to the UK economy.

The ConstructionDeliveryManagerwill support the delivery ofan area within aspecific section of theWorks This responsibility extends to all construction and related activities, reporting to theSenior ConstructionDeliveryManagerand includes logistics planning and implementation in collaboration with the site wide logistics team,programming and planning, monitoring and close out of authorities’obligations and conditions andclient liaison.

Key Responsibilities

  • S upport the contract partners in their delivery of the works packages to enable efficient delivery of the of their sectionsofworks.

  • Recommend temporary measuresto mitigate against safety and/or quality concerns. Follow up by takingappropriateand proportionate action (e.g. issue communications, call meetings) to avoid thecessationof works.This includes but is not limited to review of documents, assurance audits etc.

  • Monitor works on site and input into the construction daily report to ensure information is reported up through the organisation to theSenior Construction Delivery Managerand escalate any issues/concerns via detailed reports.

  • Proactively communicate/co-ordinatewith othersiteteams(H&S, contract, project controls,logistics)andConstruction Delivery Managerstomaintaingood communicationlinks, and ensure activity is well andtimelyreported.This will also include attendances at pre-start briefings and supporting the delivery of key messages to thecontractor’sorganisation.

  • Attend PLOD/PLOW meetings with the contractor, ensure outputs are recorded and issued to the SCDM.

  • Undertake safety and/or assurance inspections thatsupport the project HSPI’s.

  • Ensure clear, two-way communication withtheSenior Construction Delivery Managerso that all activityand issues aredirected appropriately

Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Experience and knowledge ofconstruction sequencing, recoveryplansandresource allocation

  • Goodunderstanding of the post holder’s obligations under CDMRegulations

  • Working knowledge in the delivery of projects

  • Be ableto write informative,conciseand meaningful reports

  • Motivate and energisecontract partnersby building a climate of trust and understanding and actively seeking alternative views and opinions.

  • Possess excellent organisation and communication skills

  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil, Mechanical, ElectricalEngineeringor Construction management, or equivalent vocational training and experience

  • SMSTS or IOSH qualification holder
