Primer is a growing network of K–8 schools restoring the timeless foundations of American education. Inspired by the original teaching primers that shaped a nation of readers, thinkers, and builders, our schools begin with what has always worked, and build for what lies ahead. Close-knit learning environments. Skilled educators. A culture that takes kids seriously as learners and leaders.
Primers shaped the first 200 years of American children. Primer will ready them for the next.
Primer is opening new campuses across the country, and every one of them is a construction project. Somebody has to be on those sites: walking the slab, chasing down answers, catching the problem before it costs more time. That's you.
You're the field point of contact for everyone who touches our projects. General contractors, subs, trade partners, vendors, handymen, inspectors. When they have a question, they call you. When HQ needs to know what's actually happening on site, they call you too.
Submittals, Requests for Information (RFIs), and schedules across all active projects. Your job is to keep things moving and keep HQ informed, in that order.
Field documentation. Matterport scans, drone footage, progress photos and video, captured consistently so nobody has to guess what a site looks like.
Warranty work. When something breaks after we open, you make sure it's logged, assigned, and fixed. You're the thread between construction, facilities, and compliance.
Site walks at every stage: pre-acquisition, pre-construction, active construction, and compliance. You turn what you see into updates the real estate team can act on.
A degree in construction management, civil engineering, or architecture, or the hands-on experience that beats one.
Comfort with heavy travel. Figure 70% of your time on the road, managing your own priorities across multiple live sites.
The ability to translate field conditions into plain, actionable updates for a remote HQ team. You'll do this daily.
Fluency in standard construction documentation: submittals, RFIs, schedules, close-out.
Experience with Matterport and jobsite photo workflows, or the willingness to learn them fast.
FAA Part 107 drone certification, or you'll get it within 90 days of hire.
Low ego. You'll be building trust with everyone from a GC's project manager to a handyman working a punch list.
You want to be home every night. This job lives on the road.
Primer is a mission-first company. We believe our mission is the highest-leverage way we can create positive change. In service of that, we keep work centered on mission execution and avoid social or political activism at work that’s unrelated to the mission. If that energizes you, we’d love to see you apply.

Our goal is simple: free the next generation of kids to be more ambitious, more creative, and to think for themselves. To do that, we're creating a new education system, centered around microschools.
We started Primer because standard schools can’t possibly make space for every kid’s curiosities. But a small school connected to a big network can. When you enroll in a Primer Microschool, you step into a whole world of ideas and projects, questions and conversations. You’ll meet new friends who share your interests and work together on challenges or in classes to sharpen your skills. Our goal with Primer isn’t to teach you everything under the sun—it’s actually the opposite. We want you to go deep on whatever it is that drives you. Because we think passion is the surest path to learning. And the world could use more of it.
