Job Description

Join GE Vernova’s project execution team for an immersive 6 month internship at a Combined Cycle Power Plant site. Acting as a Junior Field Coordinator, you will support the Site Manager in overseeing the full project lifecycle—from civil works and mechanical erection to commissioning and final performance testing. This role is designed to develop your field-based engineering judgment and prepare you for a career in large-scale industrial project management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Throughout the 6 months program, your responsibilities will evolve through the EPC phases:
  • Site Safety & EHS: Actively participate in toolbox talks, safety walks, and the permit-to-work system. You will be responsible for delivering EHS observation reports and risk assessments to maintain our "Safety First" culture.
  • Field Coordination & Monitoring: Track daily progress against the project schedule. You will assist in inspections for civil foundations, structural steel, and mechanical alignment for Gas Turbines (GT), Steam Turbines (ST), and HRSG units.
  • Technical Support: Assist in reviewing drawings vs. execution, cable routing verification, and loop checks. You will participate in "walk-downs" and manage mechanical punch lists and equipment installation reports.
  • Commissioning & Turnover: Support pre-commissioning activities including system flushing and cleaning. During the commissioning phase, you will assist engineers during first energization and functional testing, maintaining a commissioning logbook and issue tracking report.
  • Interface Management: Assist in coordinating activities between different contractors and disciplines to ensure smooth transitions between project phases.
  • Final Delivery: Support the closure of punch lists and the collection of performance test data, culminating in a "Site Improvement Proposal" presented to site leadership.

Desired Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing the final year of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Industrial Engineering.
  • A strong desire to understand the lifecycle of a Combined Cycle Power Plant and EPC phases.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively with contractors, site engineers, and leadership.
  • A "Field-First" mentality with a willingness to spend 70% of the time on-site. You should demonstrate initiative, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a discipline for following up on open issues.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and proficiency in standard reporting tools.

Learnings & Skills Acquired
Upon completion of this 6 months program, you will have gained:

  • Industrial Execution Mindset: Transition from academic theory to the practical realities of a high-stakes industrial site.
  • Multi-Discipline Coordination: Hands-on experience managing the interfaces between Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical/I&C works.
  • Site Management Capabilities: Practical knowledge of site rules, permit systems, and contractor management.
  • Technical Proficiency in EPC: A deep understanding of the installation and commissioning of Gas Turbines, Steam Turbines, and HRSG systems.
  • Field Engineering Judgment: The ability to identify root causes of site issues and propose viable, safe solutions.
