Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Construction and Installation Planner and Administrator who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate should be ready to learn and execute a wide range of tasks within a construction and installation project on an active railway. The position is onsite, based in Oakland, Californiaat the project office.

Accountabilities:

  • Assist the Site Construction and Installation Manager plus other Site Construction Installation Resources on a number of daily tasks (RFI’s from Subcontractor, Access Planning, Material queries and tracking, Project documents, Project document submittals to the Customer).
  • Plans and coordinates railway track access windows with operations and project planning.
  • Ensures construction teams utilize access periods safely and efficiently.
  • Coordinates track possession planning and compliance with railway safety procedures.
  • Submission of TAWRs to formalize all access on BART/client property Manage IFC, SSWP transfers and coordination meetings with client and subcontractor.
  • Responsible for vehicle usage plan with subcontractor and maintenance plan coordination.
  • Manage a 4 Week Look Ahead Schedule that includes all Hitachi activities.
  • Maintain a monthly delay log for all on site activities.
  • The role is responsible for coordinating project planning, system access, and documentation for rail and transit activities. Responsibilities include preparing and submitting weekly four week look ahead schedules, continuously maintaining project schedules, and coordinating construction, testing and commissioning, training, survey, inspection, and material related activities. The position supports coordination meetings, confirms operational support for planned work, and serves as a central point of communication across project teams.
  • This role manages system access and compliance by preparing, reviewing, submitting, and tracking system access requests and track access work request forms. It maintains daily work shift logs and monthly delay logs, documenting delays related to personnel, equipment, site conditions, and operational impacts, and supports review and reconciliation of delay records. Additional responsibilities include managing site specific work plans, design and construction submittals, and product documentation by packaging submissions, coordinating reviews, facilitating workshops, third party autority permits(if needed), tracking comments, and ensuring approvals and closeout through required document management systems

Required Skills/ Knowledge:

  • Desire to learn and work in a construction and installation office based environment.
  • One (1) to five (5) years of relevant and experience.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
  • Ability to understand and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, peers and third parties.
  • Ability to maintain the integrity of confidential business information.
  • Knowledge of typical office software (MS Office Suite).
  • Willingness to learn Procore construction software and apply accordingly to these efforts.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (undefined discipline) is preferred.

Languages:

  • Written and spoken English proficiency.

In accordance with the DOT’s FRA and FTA programs, Hitachi’s substance screening program tests pre-employment candidates and current employees, as required for safety-sensitive positions.

The salary range for this position is $97,600 - $147,600 per year. Final pay is determined by the candidate’s experience, skillset and ability level, internal equity and location.
