Job Description

This position reports to the CFO at MMI Tank and interacts with A/P, Project Managers, HR/Payroll Manager, and Senior Management. Strong interpersonal skills are required. Must be self-motivated, able to meet deadlines, and able to deliver accurate work. This position will initially work on special projects as directed by the CFO and assist with overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations.

This position will work from the Phoenix, Arizona location of MMI and report to the CFO at the MMI Tank Office located in Phoenix, Arizona.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Managing personnel and overseeing day-to-day accounting operations
  • Manage and maintain Sage and other related construction software, and the general ledger
  • Perform and/or review standard journal entries for the month end close
  • Reconcile various sub-ledgers, including fixed assets
  • Prepare cash management reports and monitor cash flows and proactively identify financial concerns
  • Oversee Accounts Receivable and collections
  • Oversee Accounts Payable personnel
  • Oversee payroll and related regulatory filings
  • Prepare and/or review sales tax reconciliations and related filings
  • Meet periodically with department managers to review financial reports, including ascertaining and documenting variances in construction jobs
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and other reports to be presented monthly to Management.
  • Perform periodic reporting related to Company operations for insurance renewals/requirements and other regulatory filings
  • Maintain accurate financial records and internal controls
  • Assist management in various analysis, research, budgeting, and compliance as it relates to accounting and business operations
  • Interact with others in a professional and ethical manner
  • Follow department and company procedures
  • Keep up regular attendance and punctuality; regular attendance and punctuality are essential for the smooth operation of this company. Submits all time-off requests to the COO and MMI Tank CFO
  • Other duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the business. These responsibilities may change from time to time as business needs evolve over time.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Professional Certifications, Education, Experience and Travel Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with emphasis in Accounting or Finance
  • 8+ years of accounting experience.
  • 3+ years of management experience.
  • 3+ years of construction accounting experience.
  • Construction experience is required
  • Sage Construction Software experience is a significant plus.
  • Knowledge of WIP and job costing is a plus.
  • Experience managing project budgets and financial reporting.
  • Experience with progress billing and change orders.
  • Strong Excel skills are essential.
  • Basic understanding of commercial insurance, bonding and employee benefit programs
  • Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule and work overtime when necessary, which may include occasional weekends and evenings.
  • Superior problem-solving skills, strong understanding of accounting process, and ability to effectively communicate for reporting.

Physical Demands/Requirements:

Constantly (over 2/3):

  • Operates computer and other office productivity machinery such as calculator, copy machine and printer.
  • Remain in a stationary position for 50% or more of the time
  • Review documents, organize data and detect accuracy of information

Frequently (1/3-2/3):

  • Moves throughout office accessing files, office machinery, etc.
  • Communicates with co-workers and exchanges accurate information in-person, telephonically and via electronic devices/e-mail

Occasionally (under 1/3):

  • Moves materials or documents up to 25 lbs
