The Xplore Solano Summer Youth Work Experience Program will work to implement conservation work projects and engage in career education related to emerging green careers. Projects could include working with various organizations and agencies within Solano County in the outdoors, to conduct work in areas like urban agriculture, trail maintenance, invasive species removal, nursery work, habitat restoration, and water conservation. The team will have Friday recreation and training opportunities related to watershed health, agriculture, green careers, and more. SCA leaders will pick up and drop off members at a central location. Members are expected to be prepared for the workday: on time, in uniform, with their lunch and water packed. Participants should wear all leather boots to work each day and SCA uniform (will cover in the Orientation). The SCA provides all PPE for each work site. Working environment might be cool in the morning and hot during the day; crew members should dress in layers to be prepared. In addition to PPE, the SCA will also provide training in the safe use of hand tools. Acceptance of this position means the members understands it is a full-time commitment during the dates of the program and will communicate to their crew leaders if there is any potential conflict.
