Job Description

The Connectivity Construction Manager is responsible for managing the planning, deployment, commissioning, and turnover of connectivity infrastructure supporting data center projects. This role oversees the execution of network infrastructure installations, including fiber optic systems, structured cabling, pathways, network rooms, and related connectivity components, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with design requirements.

The Connectivity Construction Manager serves as the primary liaison between contractors, consultants, network engineering teams, operations personnel, and vendors to ensure successful execution of connectivity-related scopes throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage onsite construction, installation, testing, commissioning, and turnover of connectivity infrastructure for data center projects.
  • Oversee deployment of outside plant (OSP) and inside plant (ISP) fiber infrastructure, structured cabling systems, pathways, racks, cabinets, and network spaces.
  • Coordinate activities between contractors, connectivity engineers, operations teams, commissioning teams, and equipment vendors.
  • Review construction drawings, connectivity designs, scopes of work, and technical specifications for constructability and compliance.
  • Support project planning by identifying, sequencing, and packaging connectivity work scopes for execution.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining project schedules while identifying potential risks to connectivity milestones.
  • Monitor contractor performance, installation quality, testing results, safety compliance, and schedule adherence.
  • Manage change orders and support cost control efforts throughout project execution.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to validate installation progress, quality standards, punch-list items, and turnover readiness.
  • Review fiber testing documentation, structured cabling certifications, commissioning reports, and as-built documentation.
  • Coordinate commissioning and acceptance activities for network infrastructure systems.
  • Support outage planning and execution for connectivity work occurring in live production environments.
  • Facilitate communication between construction teams, network engineering teams, quality assurance personnel, and operations stakeholders.
  • Track project risks, dependencies, and mitigation plans while providing regular status updates to leadership.
  • Manage project closeout activities, including documentation review, testing acceptance, training, and turnover.
  • Promote continuous improvement, operational excellence, and a strong safety culture across all projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Telecommunications, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • 7-10+ years of experience in telecommunications, network infrastructure, data center construction, or mission-critical facilities.
  • Experience managing deployment of fiber optic and structured cabling infrastructure in large-scale data center environments.
  • Knowledge of data center connectivity systems, network architecture, telecommunications infrastructure, and critical facility operations.
  • Understanding of fiber optic installation practices, cable testing methodologies, and commissioning processes.
  • Experience coordinating contractors, commissioning teams, network engineers, and operations personnel.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously across different stages of design and construction.
  • Familiarity with project scheduling methodologies and construction management practices.
  • Experience working within mission-critical or hyperscale data center environments preferred.
  • Strong understanding of safety, quality assurance, and change management procedures.
  • Proficiency with project management, scheduling, and reporting tools.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $90.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
