
The Concept Formulation (CONFORM) team oversees EB’s concept development work which includes leading SSN(X) and program insertion studies, research and development (R&D) efforts, outreach, payload integration, and warfare analysis. The R&D efforts of CONFORM include internally and externally funded R&D, university research collaborations, and small business collaboration to identify and develop new technologies that are consumable by the submarine fleet.
This program representative position will involve portfolio management and integration in one or more of the following areas: independent research and development (IR&D), contracted R&D (CR&D), National Institute for Undersea Vehicle Technology (NIUVT), small business innovation research (SBIR), and other R&D groups at EB. Work will be performed in close coordination with the other CONFORM areas.
Responsibilities include: interface and coordination across EB engineering; assisting in R&D portfolio management for internal and external programs; meeting coordination and facilitation for cross-functional groups; minimal local travel is expected

Now in its second centennial of submarine building, EB is the design yard and prime contractor for the Virginia-class submarine program, currently in production. EB is also designing and developing the Columbia-class ballistic-missile submarine which will replace the current Ohio class beginning in 2027.
