- Confirmation Analyst, Transaction Control

NRG is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Risk Confirmation Analyst to join its Transaction Control team. This position will be based in Houston, TX as part of the NRG Business Marketing Risk Management team.

The Confirmation Analyst is responsible for accurate and timely processing, review, execution, and maintenance of trade confirmations supporting NRG’s wholesale and retail energy portfolios. This position requires close collaboration with Front Office Trading, Scheduling, Risk Management, Legal, Credit, Accounting, Settlements, and Commercial Operations teams to ensure transactions are properly captured, controlled, and reported.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure timely and accurate entry of transactions into ETRM and risk management systems.
  • Verify trade economics, contract terms, pricing structures, delivery obligations, and transaction attributes.
  • Review executed confirmations to ensure transactions are booked in accordance with contractual terms.
  • Maintain confirmation records within applicable document management systems.
  • Support reconciliation processes involving trade populations, confirmations, emissions products, renewable products, and intercompany transactions.
  • Monitor trade amendments, novations, terminations, and other lifecycle events to ensure accurate system representation.
  • Partner with Legal, Credit, and Commercial teams to resolve contractual discrepancies and booking issues.
  • Participate in SOX compliance activities, internal audits, and external audit requests.

Working Conditions:

  • Hybrid work schedule, 4 days on site, 1 day remote (Friday)
  • Open office environment
  • Some overtime required as special projects arise

Minimum Requirements:

  • University undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, economics or related field or equivalent relevant experience
  • Minimum of 3-4 years of professional experience in confirmations, commodity operations, trading operations, risk, accounting, settlements or financial analysis
  • Foundational understand of financial statements and credit risk metrics

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of trade confirmations, commodities operations, energy trading operations, or middle-office functions.
  • Strong understanding of process controls, including the ability to follow documented procedures, identify discrepancies, support reconciliations, and escalate issues timely to maintain accurate and controlled transaction records.
  • Demonstrate curiosity and willingness to adopt emerging technologies, including AI tools, automation platforms which validate outputs for accuracy.
  • Innovative thinker who is team player, proactive, self motivated, and who can see the bigger picture.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple assignments independently
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
