About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Configuration Specialist to ensure the integrity, traceability, and control of project deliverables, technical data, and configuration information throughout the project lifecycle. The successful candidate will be responsible for applying configuration management best practices to support project governance, controlled change, compliance, and informed decision-making across programmes and projects.
This role is critical in maintaining configuration baselines, managing engineering changes, supporting audits, and ensuring the accuracy and reliability of configuration data in support of successful project delivery.
Qualifications and experience
Grade 12 with Configuration Management (CM11) Modules 1 – 4 or equivalent Configuration Management qualification.
Proven experience in Configuration Management within engineering, manufacturing, defence, aerospace, technology, or related environments.
Experience managing configuration baselines, engineering changes, product data, and configuration governance processes.
Experience supporting product development, production, maintenance, and customer support environments.
Experience conducting configuration audits and ensuring compliance with configuration management standards and contractual requirements.
Key technical skills:
Configuration Management principles, standards, and best practices.
Configuration Identification, Configuration Control, Status Accounting, and Configuration Auditing.
Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Material Resource Planning (MRP) systems.
Microsoft Office Suite.
Data governance, document control, and information management principles.
Engineering change management and release management processes.
Key responsibilities:
Configuration Management Governance
Develop and maintain configuration management processes and standards across projects to ensure effective governance, compliance and control of project configuration information.
Project Configuration Baselines
Maintain accurate and controlled project baselines, configuration data and technical documentation to ensure traceability, product integrity and alignment with project requirements.
Project Change and Release Control
Manage the configuration aspects of project changes and releases to ensure approved modifications are evaluated, controlled, implemented and accurately reflected in project records and baselines.
Configuration Assurance and Reporting
Provide configuration reporting, audit support and compliance oversight throughout the project lifecycle to ensure the accuracy, integrity and reliability of configuration information for project stakeholders.
