You’ll need an intellectual curiosity to get to grips with complex challenges that come with conference production and be happy working to very tight deadlines. This role offers the opportunity to accelerate your career rapidly, travel internationally and gain a broad understanding of business issues within the science industry.

About the Role

We are looking for a commercially driven and highly motivated Conference Producer to join our team. This role sits at the heart of the “create” function within the create–sell–deliver cycle and is responsible for developing high-quality, revenue-generating conference products.

Using strong research, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, you will design compelling agendas, secure world-class speaker line-ups, and collaborate closely with sales and marketing teams to deliver commercially successful events.

This role is ideal for someone who is intellectually curious, ambitious, and eager to build expertise in conference production within a fast-paced, high-performance environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth market research through high-volume outreach to senior-level executives, primarily via phone, to identify key industry challenges and trends

  • Deliver a targeted number of research calls per project and develop a holistic understanding of event dynamics beyond agenda topics

  • Create detailed audience maps and data briefs, clearly defining primary and secondary target markets to support effective internal data builds

  • Design and write high-quality conference agendas aligned to market demand and commercial opportunity

  • Identify, engage, and secure senior-level speakers and panellists for events

  • Build strong relationships with industry leaders and persuade them to participate in conference programmes

  • Produce compelling written content, including email campaigns and website copy, to communicate event value propositions

  • Develop and deliver comprehensive topic briefs to guide sales and marketing campaign execution

  • Act as the internal project manager for each event, leading cross-functional collaboration with marketing, sales, and operations teams

  • Plan and run project meetings, driving alignment, energy, and performance across teams

  • Partner with event management colleagues to deliver exceptional on-site experiences and foster long-term customer engagement

  • Travel internationally to attend and ensure the successful execution of events

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong communication skills, with confidence engaging senior stakeholders over the phone and in writing

  • Commercial mindset with a focus on revenue generation and market opportunity

  • Highly organised with excellent time management and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Proactive, self-motivated, and eager to learn

  • Analytical thinking with the ability to translate research into actionable insights

  • Collaborative approach with the ability to influence and align cross-functional teams

  • Competitive and ambitious, with a drive to develop across all aspects of conference production

Education & Experience

  • Degree educated (minimum 2:1 or equivalent)

  • A life sciences degree is required for roles focused on life science events

  • No prior conference production experience required—this role is well suited to graduates or early-career professionals with strong commercial awareness

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role will be measured by:

  • The quality and relevance of your conference programmes

  • Your productivity and research output

  • The commercial performance of your events
