Location We are seeking a Concessions Manager for the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex, the Protective Football Stadium and the Legacy Arena located in Birmingham, AL.

Convention Center Complex includes 220,000sqft Exhibition Hall, 100,000sqft in 74 Meeting rooms, 3,000 Seat Concert Hall, 1,000 Seat Theatre, a brand new 45,000 seat Football Stadium that features 36 suites and a 1,200-person club area. This stadium is home to UAB Football as well as other sporting events and concerts. The property also contains the Legacy Arena. The estimated revenue is $10 to $12 million a year.

Protective Football Stadium Type of Events- 5 UAB football games, Birmingham Bowl plus other Events. 36 Suites, 1,700 person club, 47,000 capacity, 17 Concession Stands.

Legacy Arena Type of Events- G-League Basketball, Concerts, College Basketball. 18,000 seat capacity. 12 suites, 2 Clubs, and 9 Concession Stands.

The Concessions Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of concession operations at BJCC, ensuring high-quality service, efficient operations, and a positive guest experience during events. This includes managing staff, inventory, compliance, and financial performance.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Supervise all food and beverage concessions operations.
  • Monitor concession stand staffing and coordinate with event managers to ensure proper staffing levels based on event size.
  • Manage relationships with clients on a daily basis.
  • Ensure a high level of customer service is provided by all staff members.
  • Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback promptly and professionally.
  • Ensure all food and beverage operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of concession areas.
  • Ensure that special dietary requests or menu modifications are addressed as needed.
  • Hire, train, and supervise concession staff.
  • Create schedules to ensure proper staffing levels.

Qualifications/Skills

  • 1-2 years of experience in food service management or event concessions management.
  • Experience in a large-scale venue, sports stadium or arena setting is a plus.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent client service and communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to food service.
  • May require long hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, depending on event schedules

Other Requirements

  • Able to work effectively and safely while subject to wet floors, temperature extremes and excessive noise; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds in weight; must be able to maneuver in an often tightly-quartered environment.
  • Hours may be extended or irregular to include nights, weekends and holidays.
