Job Description

The Concentrator Laborer is responsible for supporting the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the concentrator by performing housekeeping, equipment clean-up, material handling, and general labor duties. This position requires working safely in a heavy industrial mining environment while following all company policies, procedures, and safety standards.

Essential Job Duties

  • Perform general housekeeping and cleanup throughout the concentrator, crushing, grinding, flotation, filtration, and tailings areas.
  • Operate high-pressure water hoses to clean equipment, floors, chutes, sumps, and work areas.
  • Use hand tools, shovels, brooms, scrapers, and other equipment to maintain clean and safe work areas.
  • Assist maintenance and operations personnel during equipment repairs, shutdowns, and inspections.
  • Load, unload, and move materials using appropriate equipment and safe lifting techniques.
  • Safely operate skid steers and other loading equipment as assigned.
  • Forklift experience is preferred and may be required for certain tasks.
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions, equipment issues, or environmental concerns.
  • Follow all lockout/tagout, confined space, fall protection, and other safety procedures.
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards to promote a safe work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Previous mining, industrial, construction, or heavy equipment experience preferred
  • Prior experience operating skid steers, loaders, or forklifts is a plus.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to safely use hand tools.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong commitment to safety and attendance.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb stairs and ladders, and work in awkward positions for extended periods.
  • Ability to push, pull, shovel, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout a 12-hour shift.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions and around dust, noise, vibration, heat, and cold.
  • Ability to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, steel-toe boots, high-visibility clothing, respirator (when required), and fall protection equipment.

Work Schedule

  • Must be available to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required to support continuous mining operations.

  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to read and understand safety rules, operating procedures, work instructions, and company policies.
  • Strong understanding of workplace safety practices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers.
  • Demonstrates reliability, accountability, and a strong work ethic.

Work Environment

This position is performed in a heavy industrial mining environment where employees are exposed to moving machinery, elevated work areas, uneven terrain, dust, noise, vibration, changing weather conditions, and other hazards associated with mining operations. Strict adherence to all company safety policies and procedures is required at all times.
