The Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) area within the Computing and Mathematical Sciences Division at Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) invites applications for tenured/tenure-track faculty positions at the Associate and Full Professor ranks.

We seek an established academic leader who positions technical data visualization as the core engine for human-AI collaboration, reasoning, and multi-stakeholder sensemaking. Leveraging deep technical expertise to expose internal system dynamics, the successful candidate will translate computational complexity into human legibility—equipping diverse stakeholders to reason and decide together.

The ideal candidate will bring an internationally recognized research track record showing how interactive, dynamic visual interfaces ground human reasoning and decision making and enable oversight in complex computational systems. Candidates should demonstrate an active research agenda (commensurate with rank) that establishes visual interfaces as the framework for collaborative sensemaking and systems oversight. The successful candidate will contribute to our growing graduate degree programs, mentor exceptional graduate students, and leverage MBZUAI’s world-class compute resources and interdisciplinary environment to drive global impact in human-centered AI.

Qualifications

This position requires a Ph.D. in Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science, Information Science, Cognitive Science, Design Engineering, or a related field by the time of appointment.

• Strong research record in HCI, demonstrated through publications in top-tier venues and funded research (as appropriate to career stage).
• Demonstrated potential (for Assistant level) or established excellence (for Associate/Full level) in teaching and mentoring
