Computer Systems Engineer II
As part of the Corporate Engineering team, Computer Systems Engineer II supports system design, purchasing, and installation across plant locations. This role collaborates with manufacturing teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues, maintains plant systems and controls code libraries, and contributes to projects from concept through completion—often serving as both technical lead and project team leader.
Responsibilities:
· Ensure Company safety procedures are being adhered to. · Writing Ladder Logic on new projects and existing equipment. · Perform HMI screen design. · Perform basic network design on new projects and system upgrades in keeping with IT standards and security principles. · Seek out, suggest and ultimately lead any HMI, UI, ERP integration continuous improvement projects. · Provide technical support for facilities worldwide. · Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned. · Install and maintain distributed control system corporate-wide · Conduct continuous improvement on Global plant systems · Back-up, Document, Troubleshoot Virtual Machines and ESX servers for manufacturing Skills & Experience or Qualifications: · Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience in a field of study such as electrical, computer systems. · Position requires between 5-7 years of control system or computer system engineering experience. · Familiarity with Ladder Logic, preferably with Allen Bradley systems. ie. PLC 5, SLC and ControlLogix. · Strong Skills in HMI design, preferably with FactoryTalk and Ignition. · Strong Skills in Python, C, SQL, Java and CSS · Experience programming for and managing an environment with strict uptime requirements. · Strong Skills in database design, management and programming interface with MS SQL Server. · Ability to evaluate project requirements and apply the appropriate solutions. · Strong Skills in networking and network security best practices. · Strong skills in project engineering · Strong Skills in Virtualization using VMWare Workstation and ESXi · Proficiency with layer 2 and 3 network topologies and knowledge about Vlans, Spanning Tree and IP routing. · Familiarity with OPC-UA protocol and MQTT. Kepware experience preferable. · Work is highly varied and non-standardized, involving complex variables. Strong analytical and inductive thinking are required to develop new methods when existing approaches are inadequate. · Must combine problem-solving techniques with innovation for best solutions. · You must be able to look at the big picture as well as the details. This type of analysis and decision-making is needed daily. Travel - estimated 30% with some weekend overnights
