Job Description

SGS Bateman’s multidiscipline engineering team provides integrated engineering services for processing plants and related operations. Using proven ISO methodologies enhanced by innovative approaches, the team transforms conceptual designs into operational manual processing plants of all sizes and complexities. An extensive suite of enhanced 3-D design tools and modeling software allow our engineering team to visualize all aspects of plant development.

To deliver and maintain Engineering CAD and IT systems, encompassing both hardware and software, in support of effective engineering project execution.

  1. Co-ordinate, set up and support computer aided engineering systems (CAES)
  • Obtain standards information for SPS/client project specific requirements with PSL CAES and validate systems to be used
  • Set up layering conventions, symbology and drawing sheets
  • Configure workstations for network printing and provide technical support for all printing and plotting activities.
  • Continually review and update SPS documentation and revise /modify to suit client specific requirements
  • Investigate relevant corrective solutions (software developer/internet)
  • Stay up to date with software changes and enhancements.
  • Support CADD users by evaluating new software, testing it against updated documentation, and assisting with the rollout of new applications
  • Monitor and perform software maintenance..
  • Provide ongoing support for CAD-related issues during projects, troubleshooting technical problems and ensuring minimal disruption to project timelines
  • Set up and maintained project directory structures
  • Collaborate with third-party technical specialists to address complex technical challenges and enhance system functionality
  • Diagnose and resolve a wide range of hardware, software, and technical issues, ensuring minimal downtime and seamless system performance
  1. Administration, documentation and file management
  • Establishing a structured system for organizing, managing, and maintaining drawing files, records, and related documentation. Set-up the Engineering Document Management System to create records of the drawing office register
  • Collaborate with the Project Section Leader to establish and enforce file naming conventions
  • Maintain the asset register of all company assets
  • Compile monthly CAD and Printing reports for distribution to Project Controls and Finance
  • Ensure all design drawings, project documentation and 3D models are saved on the relevant CADD servers
  • Assist PSL with archiving and handing over of final archiving media according to company policies
  • Coordinate receipting of orders in Oracle and prepare payment processing for the finance department

  • Support and coordinate SharePoint tasks
  • Extensive Autodesk Software Support
  1. Standards and Compliance
  • Create Projects and load project agreements on Oracle system
  • Co-ordinate IT software and hardware procurement process
  • Audit 2D and 3D electronic media and generate report and give feedback to PSL
  • Adhere to established CAD standards and contribute to improving drafting procedures.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of AutoCAD features and drafting best practices.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Matric
  • Multiple discipline drawing office practice certificate or equivalent

EXPERIENCE

  • More than 5 years’ experience in drawing office software
  • More than 2 years’ IT background will be an added advantage
  • Experience with additional software such as Revit, SolidWorks, Civil 3D, or MicroStation, Inventor will be an added advantage
  • Knowledge in all disciplines will be an advantage
