Component Grinder (Temp-to-Hire)

Shift: 2nd 3:30pm-2am

Location: Houston, TX 77082 (Energy Corridor)

Start: ASAP

Pay: $17-$19.00/ hour

Job Description

The Component Grinder is responsible for grinding small components using manual and machine grinders. The operator ensures all parts meet quality standards while maintaining safety, efficiency, and production goals. This role requires the use of a full-face respirator due to exposure to grinding dust and particles.

Essential Functions

  • Operate manual and machine grinders to finish small components
  • Grind components to required specifications using proper techniques
  • Use calipers, thread gauges, and measuring tools to verify accuracy
  • Monitor equipment and make adjustments to maintain part quality
  • Perform basic troubleshooting on grinding equipment
  • Maintain production and inspection records

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness of machines and work area
  • Perform routine safety checks and report malfunctions
  • Adhere to all PPE requirements, including full face respirator
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures
  • Perform other tasks assigned by supervisor

Experience

  • 1-3 years of grinding or machining experience
  • Experience in manufacturing or waterworks industry

Knowledge & Skills

  • Clear and effective communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize work
  • Attention to detail
  • Basic mathematics skills
  • Understanding of grinding operations and measuring tools

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Lift, push, and pull up to 45 pounds
  • Stand and operate machinery for extended periods
  • Must wear full face respirator and required PPE
  • Exposure to grinding dust, sparks, and moving machinery
  • Work in varying climate conditions
  • Overtime and weekends may be required
  • Must pass background and drug screen
