You will be the Component Engineer for the Hardware Engineering team at Lockheed Martin  Missiles and Fire Control (MFC). Our team delivers precision engagement aerospace and defense systems, designing, building and fielding the electrical hardware that powers missiles, sensors and other mission critical subsystems for the United States and allied militaries.

What You Will Be Doing

As the Component Engineer you will own the end‑to‑end lifecycle of EEEE components, from supplier evaluation to final release. You will work closely with design, manufacturing, and supply‑chain partners to guarantee that parts are qualified, documented, and field‑ready while mentoring junior engineers and fostering cross‑functional collaboration. Your responsibilities will include:

• Selecting, evaluating, and qualifying electrical, electronic, electromechanical, and electro‑optical components.
• Planning and directing component‑test campaigns; reviewing test data and failure‑analysis results.
• Creating and maintaining Component Source Control Drawings (SCDs) and associated engineering documentation.
• Evaluating vendors, conducting supplier audits, and approving vendor‑provided test reports.
• Overseeing subcontractor‑supplied EEEE components, ensuring compliance with contractual and internal standards.
• Generating, reviewing, and approving Non‑Standard Part Approval Requests (NSPARs) during Parts, Materials, and Process Control Board (PMPCB) meetings.
• Reviewing and approving engineering drawings, SCDs, and related technical data packages.
• Leading or supporting PMP issue resolutions and root‑cause investigations for component‑related problems.
• Conducting failure analysis and recommending corrective actions within the EEEE domain.
• Coordinating with program, quality, and manufacturing teams to align component selections with system requirements.
• Mentoring junior engineers and sharing best practices through technical reviews and training sessions.

Basic Qualifications

Demonstrated knowledge of electrical component parameters and packaging

Demonstrated knowledge of Automotive Electronics Quality Standards

Desired Skills

Bachelor's degree.

Experience performing system reliability calculations

Experience with schematic capture programs ie. Cadence Capture

Experience with SAP, MSAccess or similar database systems

Experience with component thermal analysis

AutoCAD

Experience with CSAM (C-Mode Scanning Acoustic Microscopy) evaluation

Experience troubleshooting electrical test failures

Experience in Root Cause / Corrective Action

Experience in Plastic Encapsulated Device qualification testing

Demonstrated knowledge of high reliability Military component standards and specifications such as MIL-STD-883, MIL-STD-38534, MIL-PRF-55342, MIL-PRF-55681.

Demonstrated knowledge of Automotive Electronics Quality Standards such as AEC-Q100, AEC-Q101, AEC-Q200.

Experience with DPA (Destructive Physical Analysis) techniques

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $104900.00 - $194700.00

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
