Ideal candidate would be based out of Albany, NY. This position will be a traveling role in the managed territory assigned for the organization.

POSITION PURPOSE:

The UST (Underground Storage Tank) Compliance Technician is the face of the company for Tanknology. They are on the front line of customer locations performing annual testing to ensure all regulatory guidelines are met. The technician is responsible for completing all required testing and ensuring all components of the UST system are operating as designed. They are expected to handle repairs while on site and if not, accurately report to the client what needs to be done. This position requires excellent organizational skills, multi-tasking, and a desire to perform all testing with the utmost integrity.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Driving company service vehicles to customer locations, frequently on a prescribed route.
  • Perform inspections of fueling facilities, which consists of visual observation and survey of site conditions.
  • Providing on-site training to customers or company employees.
  • Performing limited maintenance tasks, as indicated based upon site conditions.
  • Capturing inspection results in a customized data collection software program with either a handheld device or laptop computer.
  • Safety First, properly secure work area and always use housekeeping.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Basic Knowledge & Competencies:

  • Communicate effectively with customers, fellow team members, and supervisors.
  • Work well independently, with little day-to-day supervision.
  • Have an aptitude and/or experience working with computers and handheld devices.
  • Appreciate the importance of safety and following strict safety and technical protocols.
  • Have a high personal commitment to delivering quality services to our customers, consistent with our industry-leading quality program.
  • Can support a drug-free workplace and pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screen.
  • Have a safe driving record.
  • Can comfortably travel in a multi-state area, in some cases being away from home multiple nights in a row.
  • They have a strong character and work ethic – they want to work hard as part of a team doing important work.

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Field experience as a certified technician is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Physically able to kneel, bend and stoop and can lift up to 70 pounds.
  • Ability to climb 20ft extension ladder several times per day
  • Must be able to travel - hotel stay - long driving distances
  • Able to work in extreme weather conditions
