Keep our bank accountable from the inside

To provide independent, risk-based assurance that the Bank complies with applicable laws, regulations and internal policies by executing monitoring assignments, identifying and assessing compliance risks, testing the effectiveness of controls, and recommending practical improvements. While bringing fresh thinking, integrity, tenacity and a strong sense of ownership to strengthen the Compliance Monitoring team

Here, compliance is taken seriously at every level. That means your voice won’t just be heard. It will carry weight.

If you’re driven by uncovering risk, producing meaningful insights, and want to see the real impact of your monitoring and reporting at the highest levels, this is your opportunity to make a difference.

What you'll do

  • Identify and escalate non-compliance to the right stakeholders and governance forums.
  • Ensure compliance risks are correctly assessed and aligned to our risk frameworks.
  • Support and govern risk acceptance in line with policy.
  • Review products, processes and policies to ensure they meet legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify gaps and help the business stay compliant as we evolve.
  • Plan and execute independent monitoring reviews across the business.
  • Define scope, build testing approaches and assess controls through walkthroughs, sample testing and data insights.
  • Deliver clear, high-quality reports with root cause analysis and actionable recommendations.
  • Compile accurate, meaningful reports used at Exco, Board and regulator level.
  • Engage with stakeholders to gather inputs and continuously improve reporting.
  • Contribute to smarter, more automated monitoring and reporting processes.
  • Work closely with business and management.
  • Support regulatory engagements, including inspections and reporting.
  • Build strong relationships to drive compliance outcomes across the organisation.

What we're looking for

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Law, Internal Audit or Accounting.
  • At least 3 years' experience in financial services compliance, legal advisory, internal auditing, compliance assurance, compliance monitoring or risk management.
  • Working knowledge of South African banking legislation, including the Banks Act, the Financial Sector Regulation Act, FICA, POPIA, the NCA, the ECT Act, the Consumer Protection Act and FAIS.
  • A track record of managing stakeholder relationships at all levels, including Exco.
  • Experience compiling accurate, comprehensive reports for governance structures and regulatory bodies.
  • Experience in internal auditing and a compliance background with a strong assurance focus.
  • Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple reviews at once.
  • Comfort working across multi-disciplinary teams – including IT and business operations.
